Just got my refurbished 8700c OS 4.1 yesterday. Done the upgrade to 4.2.1.114 within half an hour. So far everything seemed fine. My fav apps - Viigo, OANDA FXConverter, TinyTweeter and MiniMonitor works fine.

Just wanted to let you know: I tried several 4.2 revs on my 8707v and always reverted back to 4.1 because the device became way to sluggish.

Some days ago I installed the 4.2.2 from Vodafone UK (8707vCJK_PBr4.2.2_rel342_PL3.4.0.24_A4.2.2.186) and to my surprise the bb feels as fast as running 4.1.365, obviously they've done some optimization on that firmware. Looking at the memory info, I'd say, they've fixed some memory leaks, too.

I've tailored the OS a bit, didn't install support for other languages than english, left out MDS runtime, brickbraker and stuff like that, and it runs great.

My 8700g seems slower. Any suggestions on tweaks to make to make it faster? Also I get many "uncaught exceptions" errors.

just a lil question,i upgraded to 4.2.2.186 on my 8707v.
i purchased 2 themes (compat. b8700 series and requires OS4.2.1 or higher.)
installed them thru dm but when i go to themes on the bb itself, they don't show up so can't apply them.
any idea on how to resolve this?
    thanks

I lost my Overlord theme, no longer compatible. So for me, totally not worth it....

Midi files kill it.
You have a media player on your 8700g?? How can I install that?
