    Smile 4.2 for 8700c question

I have an 8700c with Cingular and I am looking into upgrading to 4.2. When I follow the links to the Chinese and Telefonica Venezuela sites they only give options for the 8700g. Will these upgrades work with my 8700c? Should I just wait until Cingular (the "new" AT&T) is offering it?
    Thanks!

From what I understand, you can use any 8700 OS on any 8700, you just have to remove the vendor.xml file before you perform the upgrade.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~it will work with 8700c just remove the vendor file, I was even able to install a 8703 os on my 8700g with some few tricks

Not unless you want to wait several years. All 8700's (not 8703's, 8705's, 8707's etc) are identical internally and their OS's can be cross-loaded as described above.

Thanks Guys. I did the upgrade and I love it!!! Now I feel I can do so much more with my 8700C than just make calls and keep an address book.
