Using DEvice Manager
when my device disconnects from DM on the desktop (but is still connected to the PC), is there a way to reconnect without unplugging/plugging all the time? there must be a button to connect...

Hmm, not sure. I think when it disconnects, the computer is basically stopping the device so it can be safely disconnected. Maybe try in DM Options > Connection settings > Detect
