I thought the 680 had been discontinued.

That's because he just took it out of the box. His expression changed dramaticly the next day.

Your best bet would go to www.mytreo.net and ask the 680 users there what their experiences have been. And go to www.phonescoop.com for specs on the 680. Hope this helps.

Treo's are notorious for having BT Connection issues. Keep an eye on your phone to make sure your headset stays connected when you are using BT.

Backup regularly. There will be the occasion where you may have to do a full reset on the device. Once the unit is reset, reloading is simple.

Download VolumeCare to solve the low audio issues inherent in the Palm Based Treo lineup. The program is free to try but is worth the money to buy it.

Be careful with the charging port. If you use a car charger, try to use one that has the full data plug (with no wires on the data side) to save from "wallowing out" the charging port in the phone (it is not replacable).

If you don't get a data cable with it, try to get one that has the sync button built in. It makes syncing easier and you may need it for resetting the phone depending on how hard it crashes when it does.

Versa-Mail is not BB Mail. It works, but not the greatest in my experience.

There are programs that make use of the infra-red port that let you have a little fun (universal remote).

I base all those statements on my own experience working in a service shop and being an ex-user of a 650 (still have it as my backup).

thanks. I'm not using this as a permanent replacement for my bb, I'm just using until my bold comes. I picked it up for 40 bucks from craigslist, and so far I can say its no blackberry, but is a lot better than my old treo 650
