    Merging Contacts

I am currently using Google Sync with my iPhone for my contact list, however I also have many of the same, as well as additional contacts in Outlook. I want to combine these two sets of contacts somehow and then keep everything in sync with Google apps.

Can anybody recommend a tool I can use to do this that will merge existing contact information and not create a bunch of duplicates?

Something like the sync tool in BlackBerry Desktop Manager would be cool.

How about edit/select all, export in Outlook then import to Google via the desktop browser. I have not used Outlook to do that but did the same with OSX Contacts and it worked fine.

I thought there was a tool in Google contacts that allowed from importing?

Sorry, I meant to add that I have many of the same contacts in Gmail as I do in Outlook. I'm currently syncing my iPhone with the Gmail contacts, but I have others in Outlook that I want included as well. Want to get them all in one place, then sync to the iPhone.

A while back I found I had incomplete contacts everywhere and it was a mess. So I chose one to clean up as the real master list then exported to my desktop and imported to all the others I used.

Maybe choose one to begin with, get all contacts in one place and delete the others. Import a fresh clean list.

I think google has a merge contact option, just sync contacts from outlook and thunderbird into google. Once complete then use the merge contact option. As long as they have the same name they will all merge into the one contact and then sync to phone.
    Hope this helps

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 4S: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

Thanks. I just finished cleaning up my TBird contacts. Outlook is next. Then I need to clear out Google, iCloud and hope for the best!

Heck Rog just send your Outlook and Thunderbird to Google contacts and let Google merge them all. The ones that aren't merged you can then clean up, or manually merge them . iOS likes to duplicate things...so if you find this, it's easier to delete the lot from your contacts on iOS and then resinc the lot from Google.

That's my plan, Del. I've created .csvs of both Outlook and TBird. Cleaned up the .csv files. Now I'm going to delete everything in Google and iCloud and my phone, load both .csvs into Google, use the merge tool, then add the Google sync add-on to Outlook and go from there.

Dang. I thought there was an add-on for Outlook to sync Google contacts. I can't find anything.

Okay, what am I doing wrong? I've gotten all my contacts squared away in Google. Turned on contact sync with my Gmail account on my iPhone. So how do I now get these contacts into the cloud?

    ˇCloud?
Open your iCloud , go to Accounts create your gmail and you'llhave options for syncing calendar and contacts and I think notes. Activate the ones you want and Google will push them through. I hope...
I'll have to check that. You go ahead and try I'll get back to you.

Now you've got be stumped... I do have my contacts. But I notice on iCloud that they're not synced.
To get them there I imported a .csv file from Google Contacts. But the damn iCloud doesn't sync. Damn closed ecosystem..
C'mon iPhone fundis, help the man (and me) out ! Sheesh...
