This is hilarious! http://www.macworld.com/news/2006/12...hone/index.php check this link out! Apparently, the iPhone was launched and not by Apple. Linksys, Cisco's Best Buy brand, launched the iPhone. It is another VOIP phone... check out the article. Post your thoughts. Personally, I think it's quite funny!

yeah they have actaully had a trademark on the name for years...read about this a few weeks ago....it's fine....Apple's will do much better than anything Cisco comes out with.
I'd be that Cisco was actaully waiting to release something with the name to get aboost off of Apples hype
    just a guess though

    Re: iPhone Launched!!!

Quoted from Mac World, that just started today:

"Yang says it's like having a BlackBerry without the Exchange server. "

to read full article: compliments of SFGATE.com

i also found this quote funny:

"This is a breakthrough, an Internet communicator built right into a phone. We're very very happy with this."
"It's the Internet in your pocket for the first time ever."

    umm...first time ever?

    Re: iPhone Launched!!!

The phone will destroy the personal hand device makers aka Samsung, Nokia, MOT etc. As for the business side, RIM and Palm have it locked down. I dont even think Steve Jobs knows what Novell and Lotus Notes are.

No one will ever take Apple seriously unless you can use a Mac to do things other then color pictures or make pictures move. But I think, that's their idea, "FUN". Yeah, it supports yahoo push email, but does it have administrative software to lock down/control an entire fleet of phones in a company? Nope.

I agree completely with bluesky as well. Apple hasn't and won't gear iPhones to the corporate environment. They don't have anything to control fleet wide iTunes on the cell phone software, let alone the more important functions such as email. You would be crazy to use an iPhone in any business situation which requires some degree of security, and i think it would be funny for you a CEO to whip out his iPhone instead of blackberry during his meetings.

    Re: iPhone Launched!!!

The iphone could either be a very expensive mistake to Cisco or possibly a great decision, but in my opinion if you have any experience in cell phones then you will realize that there are many better phones out on the market than the iphone. I'm sure that many ignorant consumers will buy the iphone and maybe even like it alot but if they new the better phones that are out they will regret it and possibly even convert to a bb. That's just my .02 cents and looking forward to seeing what actually happens.

I agree with you 100%. Actually I was just having a laugh in my ealier post.

The truly unfortunate part of the iPhone (or whatever name it ends up with) intro is that many consumers will buy it based on the Apple marketing hype.

A very costly mistake that many will make after it's too late.

Suddenly "Buyer Beware" takes on an even more important meaning.

    Re: iPhone Launched!!!

How many people would even consider this phone??

Would you give up your blackberry for this phone? You'd have to shoot me to get my 8700 out of my hands.
