No, I think they'll give it one or two more years because there are still many people who own them. I cannot imagine keeping a phone that long, but I'm too tech hungry for the next version.

BTW, I don't come to this forum very often anymore, but I still have to laugh at the Blackberry diehards who wrote endless posts about how the iPhone would never make it..."a complete failure". And when I see a post in this thread that says "when it really matters", I think its even funnier that in the last two and half years of owning an iPhone I can only remember once or twice that my iPhone wasn't getting email, yet my close BB friends have said their mail was down 4 or 5 times last year alone. They are BIS and BES both. Yeah, "when it really matters..."

Don't expect 4G on the next generation iPhone. None of the provider supports 4G (excluding sprint limited WiMax) and not at any time soon. Even if 4G was release, it wouldn't have full coverage so there needs to be a fall back coverage. It would require Apple to add a chip that supports edge, gsm, hsdpa and lte.

It seems the Carriers are behind the hand set makers. I always felt the devices were a little held back.
2010 will be the same unless we can catch a WiFi wave.

All above with 3g and 4g on sprint and every other carrier. Apple needs to spread the joy.

Do what Google should have. Open it up to all carriers and sell it straight from apple. $599 for the one to use on all carriers and $299 pick you carrier and data plan. Apple can do this. They already have the fanbase and there are plenty of people that wish they could take their iPhone to Verizon or T-Mobile( and get 3G). The iPhone is a household name that every other phone is compared to. Even people with no tech interest know what an iPhone is. Can any other phone manufacturer say that. No. Google was supposed to change the cellular world with its Nexus One. It didn't. Best device right now I feel is out but not without its limitations. Better processor, screen, camera, the ability to customize and organize your screen, put in multi tasking and let it be open to all carriers. I've got a check for you apple for $600 waiting on this.

Here's an article that suggests that TMO might get it this summer, then Verizon and Sprint

^^ You may be on to something. Wouldn't the announcement the Phone will be available on all carriers and also available to purchase without carrier obligation be sweet.

The re-sale value would be (crappy). So I doubt we see that feature.

Lol. Apple says "The last time there was this much excitement about a tablet, it had some commandments written on it."

Apples new tablet is called the "iPad" Engadget calls it a really slick huge mobile Safari. Yep, looks like a giant iPhone. No flash support. Really?
