Looks like iMessenger is in review as of a few days ago, so hopefully Apple will throw a dart at it, (I swear that's what they must be doing in the "app cave" where they do reviews and approvals for the App Store), and maybe we'll see the app before Christmas!

Looks like this one may be a winner.

What I really want to see is for one of these device-centric messaging apps bridge the gap and allow users across device platforms to talk to each other. I see no reason why someone could develop a way to pass a message from a iPhone to a BB. (Paging companies can send messages to a blackberry across the BB Network, so why can't one of these apps knock on the BB gateway and deliver a message? (If anyone ACTUALLY knows the answer to that, I'd really like to know.)

Sunday Nights they kick out a lot of Apps. Let's hope this is one of them.

I can't imagine how only 40 people do it? Seems like a "Do more with less" approach.

    Smile iMessenger released!

This long-awaited app has finally been released to the App Store!

Straight forward install for the basic free version. you can do in-app purchases to get rid of the add banner (.99) and send MMS messages (1.99).

contact list is server based so if you switch devices you won't loose your contact list.

Overall seems pretty stable to me!

Now we just need the pinstack admins to allow us iPhone users to have a special field for our iMessenger IDs like they did for BB PIN!

^^^ Well, you could still use the PIN field to post your iMessenger IDs until a more generic terminology can be used for it.

I think the PIN field is limited in # of characters (like 8 I think) and some people's iMesseger IDs may be longer.

Mine is Reggie in case anyone wants to test.

Sigh...... You can only send MMS to users currently logged in.

yeah.. I guess they are gonna have to add servers to cache the MMS stuff for delivery if someone is offline.

I also noticed that you don't get a push notification for contact list invites...

    Update:
received word back from the iMessenger app team that message cacheing and push notifications will be included in the next update. (you can hit them on twitter @imessengerapp)
