Email on Apple IPhone 32S/3G
I noticed that all my email has a Tremendous "Lag" on it. If I send a Test email from my desk top, it sometines will go immediately to the Phone, but will only show up some 4 to 10 minutes later on the desk top, or vice versa, it will go to the DT right away, and maybe not show up right away on the IPhone.
My Internet provider is Road Runner, Pop-3, The Phobe is set up correctly according to AT&T-
If I go to Mobile ME will there be a big difference in time.?
The Box on Outlook is set to Save a copy of the email, for 10 days-
Anyone have any brilliant ideas?
The inconsistency is more than likely how RoadRunner handles email. MobileMe may be a little more consistent but even the biggies like Yahoo etc can have issues every now and then. Power down the phone once then turn it back on and see if it helps?
Email Lag on I Phone
I spent EXHAUSTIVE hours with Road Runner Level 3 Support- I dont think they know what their doing, They keep blaming AT&T and saying the Lag is coming from the AT&T network not the RoadRunner side- I power down the phone 3 times daily. Once in the morning, so no one disturbs me while a munch on a freshly baked Croissant and espresso, Luch Time, Caviar, Smoked Lox and Champaign, Apre Dinner, Dessert, Fresh Triple Truffle Mousse with a Vanilla Latte. These are the 3 times I dont want to be disturbed so I used them to my advantage.
So what do I have to say, ? the move from the Bold is Interesting, and frustrating, in my book a phone is a phone, especially the ones that cost alot of money. Whereas the Bold was dropping calls left and right, Failed Calls, Dead Calls, No Calls and Kaput Calls, or the Network isnt available, its having lunch with the O'Bamas', I just havent had any " Cell Phone Difficulties at all with the IPhone 32S/3G-
The Messaging software is kind of cute on the I Phone, especially the goofy noise it makes when you send someone something, but its no where the class of the Blackberry Software. ( E-Mail Only) I miss the instant maessaging, Pin Messaging, and the double trouble servers, Columbus.rr.com and Columbus. Blackberry .net- E mail reception was almost instant of the blackberry bold, and instant if you used a blackberry net address-
Something must be wrong somewhere because the other day I sent a message (test) to myself, it was "Instant" on the I Phone and about 10 min on the desktop. Ive also noticed in the morning, If I have lets say 10 messages in my Inbox on the desktop, not all of them have gone over to my Iphone.
The other question I have which Road Runner Gurus cant answer is- If I send you a Email, not a message but an email, from my Iphone, It should show in my "Sent Box" on both the Iphone and desktop?
I forgot, if there are any RoadRunner Experts out there, does anyone know the "Proper Settings for Outlook" on a PC using Vista Ultimate, and also on the New IPhone./ The IPhone has a Different Outgoing server pre set up on the phone already. Outlook on the PC is still configured to the Incoming and Outgoing servers from Road Runner. Is that correct.
Maybe the problem is the PC/Outlook is not set up correctly?
There are several factors involved with your questions. I don't know anything about how RR does things but you can check and make sure in the phone you have Push enabled. Settings-Mail,Contact, Calendar-Fetch New Data-Advanced. Make sure Push is enabled.
If it's not enable it from the screen.
If Push is not available then you have to use Fetch in which case make the preferred changes on the prior screen to Every 15, 30, Hourly etc.
The iPhone setting will be different than Outlook b/c your using a different ISP or not AT$T. You cant really compare one to the other when it comes to settings.
Take a look at this chart and this should tell you a story. The short version is people tend to use what works and what works with most everything so they can have access 24/7 with numerous devices even if they purchase something new.

I have set up a email account at both Yahoo (Ymail) and (Gmail), Steve, can you give me the settings for the Iphone, and do I also need to change the setytings on outlook?
On the phone.
Settings/Mail, Contacts, Calendar. Select Add Account and choose Yahoo.
Enter your username
Enter your Password
That's it your done. Do the same for Gmail
Then tap Mail on the home screen. Those two new accounts will be there. Along with all the folders you may have set up on each.
I am using Gmail with IMAP settings enabled and I purchased GPush ( only 99 cents) from the app store. The IMAP allows for wireless sync of folders, read and deleted emails, and the GPush gets you pretty much instant notification on your iPhone.
Now this WILL give you several new folders in your Outlook that will take some getting used to, but so far this set up works fine for me.
I have done the same with the same results. Works good. Nothing seems to beat MM tho. Out of all the different setups and devices over the years I've had MM seems to work the best for me.
Is anyone else growing tired of Googles UI? I maintain email and everything else but over the last year or so I've been getting farther and farther away from them. I'm not sure why either.
jailbreak your phone and you can make the retrieval time as low as every minute. so you feel as if you have push on all your accounts.
