Blackberry or Apple I-Phone 3g/32S "The Real Deal"

I first want to say something that all of us here at Pin Stack know already- This "D-Day or Apple Day" for me would have never happened had it not been for all of the wonderful members who spend time, countless hours of their "family time" every day and add to the knowledge base here on Pinstack.com- I have to give an extra special vote of Confidence and thanks yo our Fearsless Leader "Hayden", srl7741 (Steve) and Neorabid, including the Moderators, who devote lots of time to seeing that people like myself get a "solid ride" with new technology, so that they can make sound decisions as to what will or wont work forr them best.

I though it appropriate to share some things about myself. I would have never ever believed that I would have "Hocked" my Blackberry for a Apple I-Phone, not in a "Million Days" and "Not for a Million Dollars"- guess what? I did, because of Pin Stack and a "Million better ways"
www.tenonedesign.com "Important! Look at this Link" "then throw away the keyboard"

Who said you cant type on a Iphone? Who said a real Keyboard is better?
Briefly, I am 59 years old, I recently had Cataract Surgery, I am having problems with one of the implants that control my near vision, I will be seeing a specialist and probably getting the problem lens replaced, But that should give you a twist on how important vision must be for me. The Clarity and Sharpness of the 2 devices, they are both beautiful, but the I-Phone far out reaches Clarity, Sharpness and ease of use-
Who said you cant teach an "Old Dog new tricks" at 59 shortly to become 60 on August 8th, Im not exactly the "local spring chicken anymore", I have an insatiable appetite for High Tech Things, but I hate it when they come with a "Real High Learning Curve" I have a wonderful friend who manages a Apple Retail Store, They forgot to set up my email last night, Oops, I got home I did what srl7741 and Neorbid said to do, it was marvelous. I did not get that same "Marvelous with the Bold and AT&T" actually they loused up my contacts and everything so bad, that they had be popping tranquilizers at the though of having to go to them again.

"Fat Fingers, Dry Skin, (That happens when you get Older), problems with vision, and Im going to get an I-Phone? Throw away a real keyboard, sounds like I needed 5 minutes with Dr. Phil?

Let me tell you, the I-Phone has brought me more excitement and enjoyment in the past few hours that Ive had it, than I have ever derived with a Blackberry Device, I am without hesitation going to say, "Im Sorry I didnt do this sooner"

!: Lets get to the Nuts and Bolts- I have a Bold- I went to many of the places that my Bold failed to work correctly, Both Phones show maxed 3g sigs, the Bold Failed Calls or Dropped calls, the I-Phone has not dropped or failed a call in any of those spots, that the Bold consistantly failed at.

2: I have had serious problems with the Bold, a 8310, and a Tilt, I have 3 phones, a Family plan and every time I have to access Technical Help at AT&T I dread it. They would do better at Managing a Prison, or Federal Correctional facilty than customers who need Technical Help or Customer Service.- The quality of Help and friendliness I received from the Apple Retail Center here in Columbus was Fabulous! They treated me terriffic, and they told me after store hours I could always go to PINSTACK.com to get quick help if I needed it.!( I knew that already) They were honest with me, if they said I dont know, I got a call within Hours with a answer.! Something AT&T never afforded me. Actually I think AT&T has regressed to the days of Elliott Ness the Untouchables, Bugsey Malone, they behave as though they were a bunch of Gansters. I cant wait until they loose their Contract with I-Phone and Other Carriers carry the I-Phone as well. AT&T has a non-curable disease, "they have forgotten the value of a customer" Once they loose their death grip on the I-Phone they will sing a different song. Their Customer Service and Ethics towards Customers is Despicable to say the least- They have a INSATIABLE appetite for money and could care less about what they do to their customers if they provide a "Bad Fit" I am talking about legitamate problems not someone who wants to stick it to them Just Because"

(3): The keyboard thing, I have been using a Blackberry for years, I could have never imagained me doing what I just did yesterday and that is getting a Phone with out a Keyboard. I want to share something, I have copied a link above to a company called Ten One Design, Yes, they have Stylus's that work on the IHone or any Apple touch screen device,. I have been unusally active the past couple months, on Pinstack, because I had to do something soon, my Blackberry was failing me, it wasnt working, it was no longer a productive tool, I was spending alot of time on the phone with AT&T Tech Service and then they sent me to Rim, The phone would not show Hebrew Text messages or Hebrew from Emails received. No One had answers. My phone is ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL to my ability to make a living, I started to lose clients, The Bold was detrimental to my making a living. A Client calls I need to answer their needs, not apologise that the phone locked up during their phone call. or the track ball quit working while I was talking with them-

I was able to get both the Stylus and Sketch from Ten One design last week. They replicate the "Skin" of the finger, and went in to try them out at the Apple Retail Store on a 32S/3G IPhone. Not only did they work terriffic, but they caused a crowd to form around me, and I needed several Apple Genius's to keep track of both the Stlus and Sketch, because everyone wanted to try them including tha Apple Staff at the store- I havent been so popular in a long time. Except here at PinStack.
It took about 30 seconds to figure out that this was a great thing that I had decided to do- One of the Managers came up to me took away the Stylus and Sketch from me and said, Hey, its time to stop cheating and let me show you how to really used the IPHone Keyboard. He dictated a simple Message that I had to type, either I did it correctly or he wouldnt sell me my IPhone. I made mistakes the first 2 times, On the third attempt I probably got about 98% right, on the 4th attempt I was sailing away. guess what the Apple Keyboard likes me! its friendly and it thinks for me.! Havent I said countless times No Keyboard? It does have a keyboard, its just different- its also Fater and Smarter than the Bold Keyboard and once your used to this it will work better for you than the Blackberry Keyboard.

Its "The Real Thing", No its not perfect, nothing is- Advice? Alot of my difficulties in past has been due to Coverage Issues, Make sure you have Solid Coverage (3G) from your Carrier- If you have a friend that has a IPHONE 3G-S Series, see if they will let you use it and go to areas where you have problems with your Blackberry, If the IPhone outperforms the Blackberry, you know what you have to do-

With the Stylus and Sketch available for me, from www.tenonedesign.com, (Specifically The Touch Keyboard on the IPhone) it also addressed an issue that we are all guilty of, and very dangerous. Texting while driving. I am an Insurance Professional, let me tell you that if you have an accident while using your device, your going to face some very serious challenges from your insurnce company, and that go as far as, Refusing or Denying Coverage by your Insurance Carrier, We have had one case where the person was Rear Ended while texting someone, the guilty party stated the person in front was on their phone texting, they were not at fault they were "Rear Ended" and because of what they were doing at the time of the accident, their Insurance Carrier Denied Coverage, and the Court turned the accident around and place fault on Both Parties! The Party in front that got Rear Ended was driving a NEW 2 week old BMW Hardtop Convertible- They will have to pay for their own damages to their new BMW!

I had a Touch that was relatively new, I love Music, for me the I-Phone killed 3 birds with one stone-

I had absolutely no difficulty synching my contacts with Outlook thanks to Steve srl7741 and Neorabid.

This is a marvelous tool, it is working out for me better than what the Blackberry Bold ever did for me to the point, that I am sorry I had not done this sooner.
The Most imporatant tidbit of advice- Pinstack.com. Dont Leave Home without it. I have received more knowlegable, courteous service from this site than anywhere else. Remember, I paid out in excess of $ 1,000.00 to AT&T for 3 phones, I got nothing but a headache from them. At&T got my Money, Not Pinstack.com, AT&T was obligated to take care of me, I received poor Customer Service from Irritable Babies who would be better off managing a Federal Correctional Facility rather than providing Technical Support to a Customer that needed help with his phones.
The relativity and Quality of Help I received from this Site and the poeple who spend countless hours here trying to make sure that when someone like myself comes through her, they will receive the help they deserve and their issue will be resolved.

Without Reservation, I could have not done sucessfully what I have just done, had it not been for Pinstack.com, Hayden, Steve srl7741 and Neorabid, and the really cool Moderators that keep this place ticking the way it does.
I thank all of you for helping me making "Communications" a pleasure again, consistant and real for me, Not a Nightmare, as it was just several hours ago, through the Auspices of the Blackberry Bold and AT&T's so called Technical Support (What a Joke)

The Day AT&T loses its Death Grip on the Apple I-Phone, will be the day I send them a crying towel, it will also be the begginning of the end for them, because they will no longer have a monopoly on a device that has yielded them "Record Profits" therfore they can "Get away with the questionable practices and poor customer ethics and horrible customer/technical service they dole out daily to many individuals such as myself, without fear of consequences".

The IPhone 3G/32S is worth its weight in gold for me. My Son is going to get one as well! No More Blackberries here!

Why do people think a stylus is better than your 2 fingers. I can go faster than hell with my bare fingers on my iphone, but using stylus pecking letters would take forever.

I love bestowing knowledge to people, it makes me feel good and then to top it off they teach other people which makes the world a little bit smarter which in turn makes less work for me? lol

I kept my bold and purchased the Iphone as my personal cell. I bought the Iphone about 3 weeks ago and it died night before last and I am going to AT&T and switch out to another one I have the 3gs 16g. The bold is here to stay, I can't seem to want to replace that so I will just have both phones.

Isn't funny how he feels toward his iphone is how I feel toward my bb curve 8330. No drop calls, in sync with my yahoo account, reliable while typing! I love it! So I know how he feels toward his iphone!! Good luck and enjoy it!

    Hello every body!

I personally like Blackberry. Each phone has their pros and cons.

The screen of the Blackberry Bold is comparable to previous BlackBerry phones, however, the resolution will be a higher 480×320, which will give you a sharper image. The screen of the iPhone will take up most of the space because the keyboard is virtual. In my opinion, the screen of the Bold looks a little better than that of the iPhone, even though it is smaller to compensate for the keyboard.

If you are a previous BlackBerry Curve user, then you will notice that the Bold is a bit larger in size than the Curve, as well as the iPhone. You may not be able to fit the Bold in a standard pocket. The iPhone definitely has a nice size to it, which will fit into a pocket.
Each phone has its own two mega-pixel camera which capture quality images.

ItaRaid, I agree with you totally. I was really brand loyal to RIM because I understand the OS and the devices pretty well after so long on Pinstack. But I also just recently scrapped my Bold for a 3Gs and am loving it.

The Bold is a great device, as are all the BBs (though I'm not terribly keen on the Pearl- no offense Pearl owners). But the iPhone is more where I'm at now. I had a BB originally because of the combination of a PDA and phone together. Then RIM brought out the Media player, so I was really happy. And then the Pearl ushered in the era of BBs with Cameras. and We're still going.

But while RIM is GREAT at having a secure and reliable platform, they're not really going that our far out on a limb to grab more of the consumer market share. The iPhone really brings the consumer features home for me. I used to say the physical keyboard was a MUST for me. Now I'm getting as fast at typing (in portrait mode no less!) as I am on the Bold. The two devices are really close to the same width (iPhone in portrait mode that is). So aside from the curve of the keys there's no real difference in their spacing. Just takes a little getting used to not actually feeling the key give way to the pressure. lol!

I don't like the Battery life or the fact that I can't carry a spare battery, but it just seems small potatos to me now. I've had the phone only 72 hours (well just over really) and I've just really gotten to love it. You can't find that many free apps for the BB (my view is you can't really find that many apps PERIOD). But on AppStore there's heaps! I don't mind the real time waster ones either- they're still good for a laugh!

Anyway I'm rambling, well put ItsaRaid, I hope you continue to enjoy your iPhone, I know I'll enjoy mine!

Nicely put, it's all personal preference. Since landscaping key layout and cut and paste, it's the best upgrade yet. But that's my opinion. Enjoy and yeah, don't spend too much on the app store

Good for you. I personally moved from a BB Bold to the iPhone, but my experience has been a bit different. The iPhone has fallen short of the mark in almost all points. The most glaring being the email function, so much so, that I recently bought a Peek Pronto. I love it! It makes me not hate my iPhone as much. If i could get the Storm 2 on AT&T today I would have my iPhone in the marketplace within the hour.......

I'd like to agree with you that all of the moderators on this site are awesome, helpful, and any other adjective you could think of that is positive......
