Nokia unveils 3 models to take on BlackBerry

Nokia, among the largest companies touting their wares this week at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, unveiled several phones designed to access to the Internet. The E61i, shown here, is one of three new handsets in Nokia's E series designed primarily for business users. The slim E61i is positioned as a BlackBerry competitor. At the moment, however, the new phones are scheduled for release only in Europe and Asia.

Another in Nokia's E series of business phones, the E90i offers high-speed 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity.

A phone is only as good at the service on which it runs. Im get mad seeing all these great products knowing that we are YEARS away from maximizing their full potential cause our infrastructure SUCKS!!

You think ASIA is waiting for Wi Fi? lol- they're already beyond 3G, probably already into Wi-Max, already doing mobile money and more.

just venting, didn't mean to thread jack- hardware is definitely pretty looking SIGH!

I like Nokia's offerings but have yet to see one in action. I was really excited to try one on Goodlink, I think that would offer a great user experience. But then I left my big BES/GL environment for a smaller biz that would pay me closer to what I think I'm worth (heheh)

    Ho hum..

i was so excited when Nokia finally launched the flip phone...but terribly disappointed at its quality. Nokia definately makes good phones, but i used one of the E series back this past summer and will gladly keep my bb...

I actually ordered E61i, two free with a plan but I cancelled the order b/c of no camera or video. That probably sounds silly to many but after having access to one for so long, I couldn't see myself with a device that didn't have that.

I really want the e90. I like my BB for my business e-mail but I own it and would really like a browser that can display java and flash elements. It doesn't look like it is likely to be part of the 8820 browser, so I have little choice in the matter.

The funny thing is that RIM doesn't view the E60 series as a competitor to BB devices. They are still using Blackberry Connect software which means RIM will still make money from the servers they sell to the carriers and the software licensing to Nokia. lol

I just got a Nokia N73 (www.nseries.com ) for my business in Mexico through Telcel. The phone is very nice with a 3.2 megapixel camera and carl zeiss lens. Although it is very nice I am having problems trying to make it work just as hard as my blackberry.. i dont think its gonna be possible. the phone sure is a looker though!!

Nokia has made some quality handsets but still can't make a device to rival the bb.

Nokia is a lot more stable than my Blackberry. Never needs rebooting.
