im looking for a mobile/smartphone which has normal internet connection. so when surfing, pages should display in a few seconds (not longer than 10s). I noticed these internet processing systems:
    GPRS
    EDGE
    UMTS
    3G
    HSDPA
    HSUPA
im not sure how good they are, but which should be required for proper browsing speed?

Most service providers offer a network that will render internet pages quickly. What's more important than the technologies you've listed is the quality of service in the area where you live. Your best bet is to "interview" the service providers in your area. In most cases, you can get a 30-day "test drive" if you will, to see who has the best service in the areas you frequent (home, office, errands, etc).

So run into your nearest stores and see what device feels good in your hands, then use it for a few days around town.

the suppliers here have similar services (europe)
so im just looking for specification requirements. would a phone with only GPRS and
EDGE sufficient for proper internet use? or is 3g required?

3G will definitely render internet pages faster than EDGE or GPRS, but those other technologies would be passable. I don't think you'd be happy without 3G, however.

when a phone only has GPRS, would it generally take longer than 30s to load pages?

Streaming audio and playing YouTube videos will be considerably slow, and there might be buffering. I have a 3G BlackBerry, but if I switch it to EDGE the browser is considerably slower, and YouTube does not play well.

    IPhone and Android.

I appreciate what apple has done, but I would argue that either is best.

Oh hoe I enjoy comparing apples to sweet cherries.
