Here's a tip to easily root a Motorola Droid or Milestone:

    1. Go to Settings > Applications and check the Unknown Sources checkbox.
    2. Download Universal Androot using one of the links here: http://software2tech.com/tag/downloa...ersal-androot/ (note: check the list first, to make sure your phone is supported)
    3. Find the Universal Androot app in your app drawer and click to launch it.
    4. Choose your desired rooting method (soft/temporary root or permanent root).
    5. Hit the button and wait a second or two, and wallah, you're rooted!

Note: You can unroot using the same software.

Thanks guys. Yes, I was surprised how easy it is to root as well. I've also rooted an HTC Desire, and there's quite a bit more to do to get it rooted (turning S-Off, etc.)

Thanks for the info, I have had my milestone xt720 rooted for a while now. I have also flashed it to Froyo firmware and now have flash on it. Great community resources out there.

Try the v6 supercharger script on the milestone. From what I hear it makes quite a difference with memory handling. Search xda, you should be able to find it. Just read the instructions, and it is reversable.
