Motorola Droid Manual Update to 2.01

If you haven't received your ota update as of yet and don't want to wait there is a manual update that you can apply. I just gave it a shot and with some patience after a few minutes had 2.01 installed and working fine-so far. Here's the link to the forum with the instructions and feedback/discussion:

DId you have any app conflicts with the new version? Other than the UI changes did you notice any improvements?

There was an issue with Facebook but it seems to have cleared up. I saw that some other users were experiencing the same with FB. Overall it seems everything is a little snappier. Some of the widgets such as YouTube and the media player have a little darker skin. The lock screen has changed which I don't care for. The camera seems a little faster too. The battery seems to be keeping it's charge longer too- so far. I'll post back with any other changes if I notice something else.

One negative change that I have noticed as well as many others is the scrolling on the browser is choppier now. It was much smoother before. Hope this gets fixed.

On a positive note I just played with the camera again and when I take pictures (which is faster now) there is no noise (beep beep/cha-ching-sorry for the sound effects) at all other than the clicking when you start the camera app. It is total silence whether using the onscreen camera button or the physical gold camera button on the side when taking photos.

It didn't do this last night when I tested it after updating though. Hopefully this is permanent and not some glitch. I'll test it out tomorrow again.

*Just tested the camera again and it's back to normal with the sound effects. Oh well.
*I rebooted the phone tonight and the scrolling in the browsers is much better now.
