    Motorola CEO makes interesting comment

Am I the only one who thinks that some people may find this offensive? Hahaha. Newsweek; September 11, 2006 Page 33:Newsweek: You recently unveiled Motorola's thinnest phone yet, the 1/3-inch-thick Motofone. Ed Zander (Motorola CEO): Motofone is about getting unconnected people connected. Its going to break barriers on price, while still delivering a profit. You go to rural areas, you don't have an abundance of energy to plug chargers into wall sockets. We wanted something that was energy efficent. We wanted something where you could read the display in the sunlight and with voice prompts in local languages so you don't have to have a lot of education to go through written screen prompts. There are people who don't need videos, music and Internet on their phones. How about that 2nd to the last sentence? Bahahaha. FOOT IN MOUTH! "So you don't have to have a lot of education to go through written screen prompts"? Nice choice of words. Should have conferred with your P/R department before you gave that interview.

Are you sure the source isn't The Onion?

Damn! You'd think he would be just a bit more educated.

And if rural areas don't have power or people who can read, why not just bring back the bag phone?

That battery can come charged from the factory and last for 3 years on a new phone with no screen or other accoutrements required by educated people.
