I've researched the sensation for quite a bit of time now but don't know what to say for a conclusion. so far I've only pretty much heard about bad things about this phone. under powered dual core. bad camera, terrible battery life. extreme over heating and etc. but how much of this is true? or has it got any advantages I do not yet know about? if so, like what ? or is it just a bad phone ?

Its the same dual core I've got in my Evo, and I don't believe it to be underpowered. Its asynchronous, meaning you get the second core ramped up when its needed. Honestly I've found running synchronized they chew the battery up and provide little benefit beyond benchmarking or intensive games. Unless you are tuberculosis concerned about benching, don't believe its underpowered.

However it could use more memory, but as a useful device it stands well on its own, despise being weighed down by Sense 3.0

Bad camera always confuses me. How bad? Lower resolution? Lag? Honestly I never understand why any phone needs a super duper camera. Guess its that I prefer a regular camera for real pics, my phone for quick shots.

As for overheating, I've heard very little in regards to it. Suppose its possible. My evo gets hot if I'm tethered and dl on it at same time, but that's about it.

Its going to be your phone. If you have this many doubts already, I'd say look at something else.

I've been told that the iPhone is a wonderful device.

    I'm just seconding Jfcooley here.
I had a Sensation, since gone for a Samsung Galaxy SII. I enjoyed the phone. Works well, it's fast. Good browser. It did overheat slightly, but then I was using Navigon, Google Voice, searching in between calls for documents. And it was being charged in the car.
Battery is a problem, but then again the phone does so many things in Multi Tasking its unbelievable.
The Sense 3.0 does wear it down. But there are other Launchers you can use.
Alternatives ? Look at the Samsung Galaxy S II.
    Or the iPhone.

    Smile bad camera as in:

Nokia E72 bad or lagging or would it just do OK against other super phone cameras? such as Galaxy S2, LG optimus 2X
