| Viewing PinStack on the Bold
Now that I finally have a good Bold (4th try) and everything is working as it should, the one remaining issue is the miniscule size of the text when going to PinStack (or any other site for that matter) it makes my PinStack experience dreadful. I'm sure it's due to HTML vs WAP, as the size of PinStack on my Curve is ideal. I've tried every conceivable preference adjustment in the browser and the only way is to use the zoom feature, but then only sees half or less, and must scroll horizontally over and over. FeedBack? Fixes? |

Is there any way to select "Column View"? I have the same issue with the OS 4.5 browser on my Curve. I end up pressing the BB Menu key and switching to column view. It basically makes the browser behave as it used to under OS 4.2. Edit to add: I'm not sure the 4.6 browser has this "feature" |

haven't resolved mine either on the 8220 (only assume that is what is happening to you too archer) -- and once i "zoom" on the pearl, it makes the font so large i have to scroll right/left to read posts. its super annoying. and ... to add insult to injury, my fonts (bbcasual) won't stay either so im stuck with very large bb alpha font on the browser. (this will be the deciding factor on going back to the curve...the browser) ![]() Quote:
good idea tho.

^^ it loads, just loads super friggin' tiny, then expects you to zoom. which on the 8220 is two extra clicks. then its soooo big on the screen that you have to scroll left/right. so like i said, its almost enough for me to go back to 8310. funny...i remember when i first got my pearl 8100 in august 06. the original OS for the pearl allowed for the auto dim to be turned on or off. later OS removed that option. i stayed on the original OS 4.2.0.69 for ages just because of that feature. now, im use to it sooo, maybe it just needs some gettin' use to |

![]() As I too can zoom and scroll, but it's too slow, too frustrating, and too hard to deal with. I'm surprised that more people have not reported it, but many people do not use the web on their smartphones very much. It's any full web site you go to. I even know what it is, it's literally HTML in it's true form on the Bold whereas on the Curve we are using a different protocol. So unfortunately unless there is something that I am missing, (I wish I were wrong) this is a product of the OS, that is not being addressed. And it's really a shame because the Bold is an excellent model. Like you say, and speaking for myself I'm probably going to have to go back to my Curve, as I spend so much time on PinStack via my BB and this type of experience ruins it. |

| Yes, I must say that I'm doing my best to be patient as I really hate giving up my Bold now that I FINALLY got one that does not have a load of things (both hardware and software) wrong with it. Proof positive of what a hard core BlackBerry addict I am ... I bought my first Bold from Rogers and it was a dud, second and third Bolds from AT&T, also had faults so bad NO body there disputed it. Finally, I did not give up I bought a FOURTH ONE (it's a winner)... and yes I am patting myself on the back for it... BlackBerry's RULE! |

And quite frankly there are times like this when I wish I didn't know my BlackBerrys inside and out. Quite frankly I already knew the answer before I posted, but was simply looking for some company.... ... I have too much invested (not just money) in finally getting a great Bold that does what it's supposed to do, and has all the really great features I've been waiting for. So to have this one BIG issue be a potential deal breaker has really got me frustrated. What's a BB lover to do? |

Going on PS from my Bold is a hassle at times, especially since the font IS a bit too small, but then again, if you zoom in, you have to scroll in a million (okay, 4) different directions. I don't suppose changing the font size in the general properties menu works either. (I just checked and it doesn't.) I think the best thing to do, the only thing to do, is to wait for an OS update that will potentially fix this 'annoying' problem. In the meantime, I agree with Cherri, I will just try to get used to it. It'll be like heaven when a new OS fixes it. Last edited by Kyo0tdemon; 11-24-2008 at 05:25 PM. |

I have my default view set to column, and when setting different default font sizes it does work on Google. It also works on the homepage, and list of devices page on PinStack, however when one gets to the working forum windows we post in, those show up so small only an Ant could read them comfortably... .. this is not unique to PinStack either, as I use my BB for other forums where the experience is exactly the same. Thus we have yet another vote with Cherri & myself that waiting is the order of the day. Thanks Kyo0tdemon, for adding to the confirmations that its not just me. I was beginning to think that perhaps I was lost in all my BB madness... |

If you view the source code behind this thread it has this line throughout it: <div class="smallfont"> Perhaps this is overriding the browser default font. Could we get them to change it to medium??? or something changeable? |

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ I was going to suggest "column view" too to possibly alleviate the situation, but it's sad to see the problem is still not resolved. I really hope RIM has been reading and watching all media reviews of the Bold and are really trying to come up with a plesent internet experience. All reviews I've read have all commonly said the same, internet is horrendous to use. Sad |

12pt fonts in a browser window should be readable. So should 10pt and 14pt. They are the most common font sizes used on the internet today. I'll have to agree with Archer and others. There is a problem with the browser that RIM needs to look into. Either it's not rendering the pages correctly, or the font sizes are caught in that nasty in-between zone where they are too small without zooming and too large when you do zoom. This is all assuming that the mobile version of the forums uses the same stylesheet as the non-mobile which is probably a bad assumption. I'll check into it. |
