Question USB Desktop Connection Issue 7130e

This problem appears in the forum numerous times but none of the suggestions seem to work.

When I open Desktop Manager --> Options --> Connection Settings there is no USB option displayed in the dropdown.

Clicking on Detect returns "device not found". As a result, I am unable to connect from my desktop to my BB.

Worked with Verizon to no avail.

I have tried different USB ports on my computer.

Downloaded and re-installed Desktop Manager. (running v. 4.1.0.10).

I have gone into Hardware Settings/Device Manager in my System Control Panel (XP Sp2) and the Blackberry is displayed as a valid USB device. Drilled down into Device drivers. Updated the drivers. There is only one instance of the Driver Device id: USB\VID_0FCA&PID_0001\5&16FA799&0&2

So, I am stumped. Assistance will be greatly appreciated.

It might be Desktop Manager. Try upgrading that to 4.2 and see if it detects it.

I had this exact same problem last year with 2 7105T's and DM 4.2 (it started with a 7100T I was using while waiting for the second 7105T). I think any device newer than the 7100 works with DM 4.2 and has fits with 4.1. Ironically after I had to do an alternative handset exchange after 2 7105T's and got my Pearl, DM 4.2 started working fine LOL

Humm, you've tried almost everything!..but did you do the "clean" unistall of desktop manager?
Did you remove the battery for at least 30 seconds?

    Thanks, all.

    1. I don't think it is a bad cable, because the PC's USB port detects the Blackberry Device.
    2. Verizon has been telling me to use DM 4.1. I can try 4.2.
    3. I'll verify my installation to make sure all DM components are removed before re-installing.
    4. Yes. I did remove and replace the battery to no avail.

Do other USB devices work in the port? I have seen some Dell machines in Docking Stations/port replicators have issues like your experiencing. If using a docking station, boot out of the dock and try it.

Try this link just to make sure everything is removed:

4.2 Seemed to do the trick. Thanks for the help. (I think Verizon Help was reticent to suggest it because the firmware version on the phone itself registers as 4.1)
