    Transferring data between devices

I am going to be switching providers due to the degregation of my signal where I live. I'm going from a 7100i to a 7105t. I want to swap all of my calendar and task items as well as my contacts. I refuse to use outlook as a mediator because it seems to reformat the entries. Is it enough to make a backup file and do restore all through desktop manager. I am thinking this might not work because they aren't the same phone, but close. I'm sure plenty of you out there do this on a regular basis, what's the trick?
    Thanks

Yes, you can use Desktop Manager and do a selective Backup and backup the items you prefer then restore them to your 7105t. I've done it with a few different devices, 7290 to a 7100t, 7100t to a 7105t and a 7105t to a 8700g never had any problems.
