I don't thinks you can turn that off. It happens to me on my 7250.

You must wait about 15 seconds before you take the BB out of the holster. Then it wont open the message.

I can't believe how underdeveloped this software is. If someone thought to put that feature in, then why didn't they think it all the way through enough to think that to others it would be totally annoying and want to make it configurable. Blackberry is quickly rising on my POS list. Now I can't even say "but it does email good"... Dissapointing.

Probably, because at the time they put it in, the idea was that the BB would only be used for important, time critical email. And as such the people using them would want to access the email as soon as it came in. The BB is growing in utilization by consumers, who want all their email on their handheld, not just the time critical stuff. You seem to fall into the latter category. It will take sometime before RIM gets all the stuff the casual BB user wants, but I think that that will come. I just hope it doesn't get things so bloated that the BB's start acting like Treo's and the windows smartphones.

I'm sorry you find the BB deficient.

    ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

A question: if the BB is in holster and an email arrives, and you don't want to read it, then why are you removing it from the holster in under 15 seconds?

What are you going to do? Not read it?

If you're not going to read the email, then why pull it out?

Don't say "because I want to see if it's important", because you can set filters and adjust the profiles to insure that the BB will notify of important messages.

    I'm curious, that's all.

Re: How do I stop auto open e-mail when removing from holster?

Point made, but why not a setting to defeat. I guess if I get an e-mail notification and need to make a phone call. I'll wait 15 seconds before calling or DC'ng. It's software. They could have made an option. but then again it's a blackberry and that seems to be all that's important. Well, the freak'n thing fell out of the holster for the 3rd time since I've had it, so I don't think it will be long before I toast it for good.

So, when I was in a sprint store today trying to get my aircard replaced and not getting the help that I needed, I noticed that basically all other models of the blackberry seem so much cooler than the 7100i. I think I was looking at a 7130. The pearl looks pretty cool too. I'll keep at it, maybe me and my blackberry can make peace. I was getting frustrated at suretype until I noticed if I just keep typing and ignore the "hints" that it does usually spell the word correctly. That was encouraging.

Anyone have a suggestion on a good holster or pouch. The one that comes with the blackberry is way to weak for my work style. I do acknowledge that if I were in an office environment it would probably suffice, but just walking from the car to my house the think ended up in the mud. I have to find something else. Gettin in and out of the car is treacherous as well.

There are a lot of aftermarket holsters out there. Check the reviews in the PinStacker Reviews thread. I use the OEM leather holster with the Magnetic Flap latch. Works just fine.

    Hope this helps
