Ok battery out and in again.

Where do I create the new message and where do I send it? How do I check the Blackberry Network?

    Thanks

When you create a message you get the option to create an email or sms or mms or pin message. Create a pin message and try to send it to my pin no. I'l reply and let you know if it works.

The message just seems to be sitting in the out box with the timer. Have the same problem trying to send email (have already registered for the service). BB saying "data connection refused".

Tearing my hair out here :-)

Do you have uppercase or lowercase GPRS in the top right of the screen (when you're at the ribbon, the screen with all the icons on it)?

You can't check the BlackBerry network. Uppercase GPRS is your indication that the device has found the BlackBerry network.

    PIN Info Report:
    Device Last Active: Never

    Provisioning Report:
This device does not appear to be on a relay.

With Data Connection Refused, I don't think your BB Plan is properly Activated. You may need to contact you provider and have them check you account status.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: No browser

Data Connection Refused is a GPRS network error not a BlackBerry error

Did the SIM you have come with the BlackBerry or have you put an old SIM in the BB?

    Re: No browser

Have lower case gprs (that sounds like it's not good). I assume I need upper case to register. I assume that's what the "data connection refused" issue is about.

Hard reset in an area with a better signal?

    Re: No browser

It's an old sim (swapped from the last phone)

PS: I'm gobsmacked by the speed and level of support here. Was a Sony Ericsson user before and the support groups were dire in relation to this one - keep it up guys!

    Re: No browser

    It's not a signal problem

SOS - Can't find the home network but I've found a network so you can make emergency calls
gsm - found my carriers network, you can make calls
gprs - found my carriers data network
GPRS - found the BlackBerry network and have been "accepted"

If you're getting 'gprs' then your SIM isn't BlackBerry 'enabled'. If you're using an old SIM you need to phone VFUK and ask them for a BlackBerry enabled SIM. If you're using a SIM supplied with the BlackBerry you need to phone VFUK and ask them what they're playing at.

Either way, a phone call should sort it.

Ok - now up and running.

Vodafone hadn't enabled the sim card for BB access. Once they did that, everything seemed to go swimmingly as they say. Got wap browser enabled and have loaded Opera for web access (although it's free it's only a 10 day trial version?)

Thanks again to everyone who offered help!
