    Lost BB??

I somehow spilled sand or concrete in my pocket, so I took my battery & SIM card out of my 7100i and put it in my shirt pocket, and used one of those spray dusters to clean the BB. Well anyhow I misplaced my BB, so I called NEXTEL, & of course since my SIM was not in it my claim was denied. So I had to go back to i860.

Customer service told me to ask around & keep calling the stored & see if anyone turned my BB in. Which I did for about a week. This one particular store, HYTEK Wireless in my area, I went in the store spoke with some one which I did not know was the manager, asked him could he fix the flip on the 860 of course he denied me & told me to call Customer service, & do a door to door service.

While I was their I figured I would ask him about my BB, I described my phone which has my telephone etched in the battery door of it, he said he received a BB the previous week, but it was the 7520 model, so I left the store.

The very next day I began calling stores, I did not realize I called the store I was in the previous day, spoke to a woman, explained to her I lost my BB, she ask what kind I said 7100i, she asked me did it have any distinguishing marks on it, which caught my attention, I said yeah it has a series on numbers on the back, she asked me what the numbers were, I said my phone number, then she said something that really caught my attention. She asked me how my number was on my BB, I said I etched on with a knife, why?, then she said well some girl returned a BB last week, and it may be yours, then she told me to hold on, then her manager gets on the phone, & before I could introduce myself, he says aren’t you the guy with the 860, I told you we don’t have your BB, Then I asked him why his employee gave a precise description of my BB. He hurried up & gave her the phone back, and then all of a sudden her story switched up, when he started yelling at her. Then she says a girl returned a 7130e which is not my phone & that all returned phones are mailed back to Nextel. I think they stole my phone but I have no way to prove. What can I do??

They were wrong for that one. I would find out why they lied to you about your phone. If the phone was described that specifically, then the manager should allow her to let you pick up your phone if it's there.

    Re: Lost BB??

    Wow sorry bout your luck.

Hmm first thing, if you lost your BlackBerry and called Nextel (Signal Insurance) they would not have denied your claim because your sim was not in your phone. If you explained the situation to them like you said then the claim should have been processed. (I can look into that for you, and find out why the claim was denied)

What is wrong with the flip on your i860? If the BlackBerry is the model phone your are using, and you just put your sim into the i860 Motorola will not do a door to door for you. It has to be within 1 year of manufacturer date on the i860, and it has to be current on your account.

As for the store you are speaking about, I dont know what to say. They are an indirect dealer so they have an owner. The owner will be glad to hear about this. What city do you live in, I have contacts that may be able to help (I need to have all the details first).

Couple things that worry me about this store, the manager didnt handle your situation properly, and if a customer returned a 7130, the girl said they send it back to Nextel? An indirect dealer doesnt return a phone to Nextel if it is turned into them. They either use the phone for parts, or they pocket the phone and sell it personally on the side (may be the case here).

Hmm, next step. Which phone is actually on your account? BB, or i860? If it is BB, and Signal has already declined your claim, call Nextel and do an "In House Claim", I can provide the direct # upon request. They will do an insurance claim for you, charge you $100 and you will have a new BB in 5 days. If you actually have the i860 listed as your phone you are out of luck and you should not worry about your BB (sorry to put it that way but you wont get anywhere).

I would contact the owner of the company if I were you, remember Sprint-Nextel does not own this store you are referring to, so you need to get to the man, let him know what is going on. Trust me, Sprint-Nextel is very picky about what happens in the indirect dealers, and if you mention you will go corporate with this they will bow down to you.

I would love to help in this situation, sounds like you got screwed, and since I am a sales manager for Sprint-Nextel, and you are a stacker, I will do my best to make sure this gets resolved.

Once I get more information from you I will be able to help you more.

There is sufficient evidence here to warrant an investigation. Isn't the PIN is unique to the device? Can RIM assist in this matter?

Yes, it is....Which is precisely why everyone needs to have their IMEI number AND Pin number written down somewhere safely in case a Berry is lost or stolen, it is traceable through those two numbers. If you still have the original box that the device came in, look on the site of the box where the white label was put on by RIM. There you will find your IMEI number AND your Pin number.
I would put a claim in as quickly as possible with those numbers. Then when someone tries and activate that device, it is going to show up that a claim is against it.

All hope is not yet lost.

Updated situation, The BB was on the account since March 2006, the 860 was the previous phone on the account, after my claim was denied, and I reactivated the 860. I did the door to door service & received a new or refurbished 860. Call BB support & tried an in-house claim, it was denied because I have Signal Insurance. I explain the situation, & the woman I spoke with stated advised me no records of my phone being returned to NEXTEL or reported stolen. Then she told me if the phone was sent in their should be a valid tracking number,
Now, I know for sure my phone was turned in to that store, After 2 weeks of calling & going store to store, the person who turned it in confessed. It was my fiancée; apparently she was upset a female classmate in my business statistics class kept calling so she confided in me. She told me she took it to the store & said her little sister found it; a young lady expressed her gratitude in having a BB returned & gave her a coloring book for our daughter.

Then according to her story the manager said there is a number on the back, maybe it is a phone number. She told me she called last Monday & explained that she turned her fiancées phone, & according to her the manager called her stupid for doing that & that her fiancé was just mad because he did not have insurance on it. So today during my lunch break I called the store & of course the manager answered the phone, I states My girl turned in my phone & I need a tracking number for it, & before I could finish my sentence, he cut me off & offered to have a meeting with me tomorrow. So hopefully the meeting will go well & I get my BB back

    Re: Lost BB??

Still confused why your claim was denied. Bottom line if a phone is lost Signal Insurance will file a claim for you, doesnt matter if you have the sim card still. What was the reason for the claim being denied?

When did you purchase the i860 originally?

Did you pay anything for the door to door?

BB Support does not handle in house claims. In house claims are reviewed and you receive a response in 5-10 business days, how did you receive a response right away? Did you try an in house claim before or after you put the i860 back on your account?

Maybe the manager realized you knew for a fact he has your BB and he is scared.

Let me know if you need any assistance.

To the original poster, if and when you get your BlackBerry back (I hope you do), I suggest getting the Stuff-Bak labels mentioned in this thread http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com...html#post50429

The criminal intent here is quite clear. This manager intends to permanently deprive the owner of their property - Theft.
