I'm using a BlackBerry 7100g.

All of a sudden, my keypad seems to have gone wonky. When I press the delete key, it types (adds on) "sxvc" instead of deleting a character. Similar weird characters appear when I press the ',', '.' and enter keys (for example, it types "aad" when I press the "L" key.

I've tried changing the language to English, but it doesn't stay that way! It keeps changing it back to Afrikaans, I think.

Do I need to reinstall the OS?

It appears that the 4 rightmost keys (comma, period, delete and enter) behave as the 4 keys in the second column of the keypad.

That is, when I pres ".". it behaves like the "E R" key. When I press "," it behaves like "D F", etc.

Weird! Anyone seen this problem and know how to deal with it? I've tried resetting the blackberry by removing the battery and SIM card for a few minutes.

You could delete unwanted language. Anyone else have any advice?

I tried the following:
1. Deleted all extra languages. No luck. The last column of keys till shows me characters from the second column
2. I reinstalled the firmware/OS.
The problem went away... briefly.
It came right back, as suddenly and abruptly as it did the first time, with no warning or provocation.

do you have any third party apps?
they may cause issues.

I didn't download and install any 3rd party apps. All I have are the following:
1. Yahoo Messenger
2. Google Talk
3. Calculator (Default)
4. Password Keeper (Default)
5. Yahoo Search
6. Brick Breaker (Default)
7. Alarm (Default)
8. Calendar (Default)
9. MemoPad (Default)
10. Tasks (Default)
11. Internet Browser (Default)
12. Address Book (Default)
13. Call Log (Default)
14. BlackBerry Messenger (Default)

my only thoughts are to delete the third party apps, yahoo or google, one at a time and see if the problem remains, that may let us and you know if it's yahoo or google?
those are the only apps out of the ordinary!

I uninstalled both Yahoo Messenger and Google Talk, but neither solved the problem.

Hi and welcome, only last option you have is to reinstall the OS....

I reinstalled the OS once again, and, naturally, it reappreared a while later.

I uninstalled all 3rd party apps (Yahoo messenger and Google Talk) and then reinstalled the OS, and it STILL reappeared.

We tear apart Microsoft and Bill Gates because of far less shakier OS and applications, and yet, for some infathomable reason, put up with untested, shaky software on the BlackBerry.

Food for thought huh?
