Hi Trapper! What you have is a IT Policy you need to remove. Assuming you've gone through the process of entering the ten incorrect passwords, then the handheld erased all of it's user data, rebooted and asked you to enter a new password, then do this: First, create a new password. You can remove it later if you would like, but right now you need access to the device. Next, go to "Options", "Security", "General Settings". (Note: on earlier versions, there is no "General Settings" -- just go to "Security Options"). You've already been there, it's the screen where you are trying to disable the password. Scroll down and look at the bottom: If there is any mention of an IT policy, then your handheld definately has one that needs to be removed. Go to this page on the internet: http://blackberryfaq.com/index.php/Remove_IT_Policy , and follow the instructions there. It looks a little complicated, but it's not too bad. After you've completed this, your device will reboot up again and the restrictions on password enabling/disabling will be removed. Enjoy your BB!
