    Thumbs down Help! 7100t Dead

I just pulled my Blackberry out of its holster and it was hourglassing. I hit the exit key and the hourglass froze. Nothing happened, so I held down the power button, which apparently worked because the unit then acted dead. Problem was, I couldn't power it back up. Removed and replace the battery, nothing happened. Did this several times, but to no avail. Removed the memory chip, replaced it, replaced the battery, and now the red light comes on every 8 or so seconds and stays on for about 5 seconds, and goes off again, only to repeat. I attached it to my computer, and the desktop manager says it is disconnected. Only odd thing is that when my computer sound is on, it makes a noise like when you add new hardware every time the red light comes on, and then repeats the noise when the red light goes out.

Any suggestions? Never had this happen on this device before, but I did have my old device (an earlier model) lock up before several times several years ago, which is why I ultimately got this T-Mobile device.

Possibly your battery is way too dead or kaput

I thought of that, and I'm going to order a new one. But shouldn't it work while it is plugged into the computer if that were the case?

    Fred Red, Welcome to PinStack.

You might try to plug it in to the charger and let it charge for a couple of hours and then see if it comes up. If not, let us know if there is anything else we can do to help with this problem and we'll go from there.

Thanks. I replaced the battery with an older one I had and am still charging the unit. Still doing the slow red blink.

My IT guy upgraded the software last week to take care of the early change to DST, so maybe that screwed the unit up. I have never had any problems with this unit previously.

I've plugged it in for several hours. Still won't turn on, just the slow red blink. Any ideas now?

Well, I guess you might want to try to re-install the OS and see if that corrects the problem.

How do I do that? The Desktop Manager shows the device is disconnected? Should I be able to do it via the software?
