    downloading problem

    Hey folks.. I'm trying to download some mp3s so I upload the files as I've done multiple times in the past then point my BB browser to it and select the link! The mp3 loads and starts playing using the audio player, then I click the wheel and select save. It immediately tries and errors out with the error "unable to save file"!
    It doesn't even really try to download the file. The filename is listed in the tunes though! This has worked for me in the past but it started doing this recently! I have deleted most of my messages and previously downloaded tunes to make sure I wasn't out of space. I made sure the filename is short. It fails even on previously downloaded files that worked. I cleared browser cache and no go.

    Are you using the menu to save or the control on the far right of the media player? I assume you are talking about a 7130 device, right?

    I have tried it both ways... The menus are the same. So are the results. Yes, this is on a 7130c on Cingular's network.

    Which Browser are you using on your 7130? Make sure it's the Internet Browser and not the WAP Browser.

    Yes it's the internet browser. I don't have a WAP browser. The only other browser is a media net browser. But I don't use that one. This used to work, I downloaded 3 tunes 1 day(before I realized that I can't set specialized ringers), and then I tried a 4th and it gave the error. I thought I used too much space so I removed some tunes and it worked. Then it crapped out and it has been doing it since. I have cleaned out all the other tunes and only want this one but no go. Status screen says I have 31mb free out of 64mb total!

    Have you tried a Cold Reboot (Battery Out, wait 15-30 sec, Battery Back in)? Sometimes that will help. And you should be able to set custom Ringtones. And you memory is not low.

    Just tried it, and same thing. Same error. This makes no sense.

    You are right, it makes no sense. I don't know anything else to say, other than try reloading the OS. Don't know if that will help, but I'm at a loss.

    What all have you tried? Cold reboot? What site are you trying to download from?

    Let us know if there is anything else we can do to help with this problem or your BB.

    I have tried turning off the BB and restarting. Tried a cold reboot. I am using the Internet browser to download the files from coolservice.dk. The BB downloads the file and starts playing it, but when I try to save, I get the "unable t o save file" error. The BB is an 8703e with Verizon, running OS 4.1.

    Have you tried downloading one of the tones on Srl7741's Great Theme and tone Site. See if you can download one of his MP3s

    Hello jazzup, welcome to pinstack.

    There are a few important factors when downloading ringtones.

    Two of the most important are you need to download ringers that are compatible with your BB, polyphonic, midi and mp3 for the 8703e, and more importantly for the creator of the ringtone, they need to make sure the ringer is in the proper format.

    Definitely try the site mentioned, there are some quality ringers on there.

    You can even request a ringer to be made for you, and it will be posted on that site. Just click "Request Ringers" in my signature.
