BB Prepaid pop up question
Good day everyone.
I purchased a BB, a few weeks ago so I've been reading this site to find out all the nuances associated with my BB 7130c
I got a prepaid plan from Cingular and everything is fine.
My only problem is the prepaid pop up everytime you place a call or send a text message is annoying.
I called Customer Service and I understand that it's a feature of their network and they can't turn it off. However I do believe there should be a way maybe not to turn off hte notification within the Blackberry itself but to at least mute the noise. I've been in class a few times and received a text message and then I hear the *boing* with a message on my screen(Not a text message, it's not in m y inbox, it's just a pop up) that says "Your account balance is XX.XX"
I'd like to repeat that even if the prepaid account balance feature after every call/sms is a text message on other phones, at least on my 7130c it's not an SMS or doesn't apper to be one since it's not in my Inbox and seems to be an overlay of what's on the screen. Is there anyway of turning this off or at the very least muting the sound associated with it within the BB settings. I've tried everything in profiles but nothing works.
Edit: I actually asked this question on BBforums and no one could answer my question. I'm hoping I have more luck here. Since then I have tried looking for midi files that have the same sound but to no avail. I am stumped.
That's a built in app/OS change for the prepaid. You can also post that here:
Cingular's live chat support is also pretty fast. Sorry we could not help.
Thanks fot the reply Hayden.
I actually did ask Cingular Tech Support both on the phone and online.
So there is no way of at least taking the noise it makes off?
I can be in class and receive a sms and it'll make that stupid noise to tell me what my balance is even if I have my phone on Vibrate or Quiet.
I can't wait till I switch to postpaid, I'm only on prepaid because I am an international student and thus lacking an SSN for a couple months.
You can get Sprint-Nextel without a social, you are just required to put a deposit. Let me know if you are interested, I can give you more info.
Any info is good info as far as I am concerned
I know Cingular, can do the same thing, but the deposit is something like $400. I was just checking Sprint and it seems their BB plan is 39.99 as opposed to the Cingular/Tmobile one which is 29.99. Any reason for this?
