    Hello Marvalle!

You can find instructions here on how to upgrade your device OS.

Good luck and let us know if you have any questions!

I'm having difficulty finding any place that indicates 4.2 will work on the 7100i. It ships with 4.1, of course, but if anyone has a location for the 4.2 file I'd be grateful. Thanks.

4.2 is designed for devices with 64mb flash. The 7100 series (with the exception of the 7130) are 32mb handhelds and are limited to OS 4.1 - sry!

Is it possible to force the install or remove some data from the install to make it fit?

No. The hardware, screen sizes, color capabilities, etc. of 64mb devices are specifically referenced in 4.2's blackberry.alx. Specific operating instructions in 4.2's blackberry.alx are designed for the 64mb devices and their specific hardware. For example, when blackberry.alx calls for specific themes and/or ringtone packages to be installed during a cold boot, they are designed for the capabilities and hardware of 64mb devices.

Additionally, 4.2 in it's most stripped-down version (sans browser, help, messenger, "brickbreaker", languages, etc.) still uses over 25 mb of flash memory, so even if it could be hacked into a 32mb machine it wouldn't leave memory for data.

I dont think you can get 4.2 for the iden device 7100i. But the iden 7100i is definitely not a 32mb device. Its 64mb. Go check if you do not believe me.

yes, rules seem to contradict themselves. The iDEN 7100i is a 64 Meg device, but 4.2 was never developed for it. Possibly some edits could be made, but probably way too much trouble than it's worth.

    Camila,

From the homescreen on your device, select Options>About. Your device OS is the third line down.
