    7130G vs. 8700

My husband just got a 7130g but I am not sure if I want the 7130g for myself or the 8700. I would love the pearl but I don't think my carrier offers that one. I have cellularone. Any reccomndations on which phne is better? I don't care about the size more than I do having a better phone.
    thanks

    Fredomrose, Welcome to PinStack.

Basically there is little difference between the 7130g and the 8700. They use the same chipsets and have the same memory capabilities. The only real differences are the Display Format, 240x260 vs 320x240 and keyboard layout, Sure-Type vs qwerty, respectively. I happen to like the qwerty and portrait layout better, but that's just me.

    Hope this helps

Thanks for the input... ...I have always used the wider blackberry's in the past. I am a treo user myself but I like to switch between the treo and blackberry. Some ladies have a fettish for purses and shoes, mine is pc's and pda/phones......Thanks again...

Adding to what RC said, if you're looking for a good phone, the 7130g is a great phone (vastly improved over the 7100).

And, the 7130g looks like a phone too. The 8700 is a bit on the big side. But that's just my opinion.

Either device is the same internally, just the aesthetics are different.

    Addendum: the 8700 is big....for a phone.

But then, all BlackBerries except the 71xx (and now 8100) have been waffle-sized.

I would go with the 7100 series phone since I don't know when your carrier will get the Pearl (be patient LOL). I have used the following BB's: 1 950, 2 7730's, 3 7100t's, and 1 7105t and I can say that I love the 7100's over the others, although the 950 was my favorite full keyboard device LOL

I love the compact size of the 7100 series as they fit in just about any size pocket, purse, backpack, bag, etc. The 7730's were a bit big for this purpose. Just go to your local store and try out both devices and see which one you are more comfortable with.

LOL By the way, if the 7130g ever makes it to T-Mobile, I'll get it too.

Thanks for all the input everyone. I think we will stick with the 7130 until the PEARL comes out with our carrier. I personally am hooked on my Treo 650 but Blackberry is not a bad alternative. Still trying to work out the querks on the 7130. thanks again...
