7130e Disable Key Beep

I have tried everything and can not figure out how to disable to beep that happens when you just type a number to dial from the home screen. I've been on tech support with Sprint all day. Any help? In any profile it still beeps when you hit a number to dial. PLEASE HELP!!

Its not possible with the current OS. Maybe in 4.2 they will let you.

What I would rather see is disabling of phone dialing from the home screen PERMANENTLY!

It's annoying. I mean, you can't start typing an email from the home screen, so why should the phone work?

I am constantly pressing numbers when I slide the BB in to the holster in my pocket.

Easy....Go into call log, click trackwheel, choose general, go down to dial from home and turn it off. Must have the newest software though.

Awsome.. a lil diff on my 8700g

Had to choose options, then general options, and towards the bottom, dial from home screen.

Three flavours of OS (3.8, 4.0, and 4.1) and three builds of 4.1 on two different devices (7100r and 7130g), and I have NEVER seen this option!

I mean, it's not in any options for the phone.

What OS are you running?

Could it be some (lame & stupid) policy on the BES which is restricting me? .....yet again.....

Hmmm. Interesting.

Me = Rogers, Rogers Corp BES 4.1, BIS 2.0, on the 7130g with 4.1.0.327 and 2.1.0.26....so apparently I'm ahead of you in OS and platform....but I don't have this option!

Is it a 71xx thing?

Maybe the 71xx doesnt have it. Let me go grab the hubby's 7100t and see if it has it.

Nope, its not there - he has a 7100t BIS, OS v 4.1.0.309 platform 1.8.0.146

This is weird, when I got this 7100 it was my first BB. I was not able to dial from the homescreen. Now I do not have the option to switch it back and forth. Im working on finding the option again...Ill let you know.

That's a rip-off!!

Why would RIM assume that 71xx users wouldn't want or need this option?

(I conferred with another Rogers user, 4.1 & 7290, and he's got the option.)

Maybe it has to do with the keypad on the 71xx's

Man I coulda swore I disabled this feature one time cuz I was having the same issues. Now Im told it doesnt exist on 4.1 software, only on 4.0. Knowing I cant do it is as bad as not being able to do it!

YW, Im still not convinced because my BB has never had an OS upgrade, Ive never even played with anyone elses BB, so how could I know about this feature? Im gonna dig some more, but after I get rid of this nasty bug in my puter.
