| 7105t Instant Messenger apps not working with OS 4.1
Per all the excellent advice and information here I upgraded my 7105t to 4.1. It went pretty much as described by others. Everything is in place except for Instant Messaging which is hanging up. I read the other threads where people encountered this problem. I have tried this with the built in IM client (OZ) and with Yak-on. Same result. Hangs at sign-in. If I sign in on my computer to IM it indicates I am already signed on in another locations. I have reset WAP, HRT, Service books, rebooted, etc. I have "allow" all connections to all ports when asked at launchtime. All other internet and network applications work fine. Any suggestions on what to try next, other than don't use IM? -Stu Last edited by stubaker; 02-04-2006 at 10:52 AM. Reason: change title |

Sounds like the problem both twheeler and myself had. At least similar. Follow some of the suggestions here: http://www.pinstack.com/blackberryfo...ead.php?t=1013 Let us know if that helps. |

Thanks James, I had seen those threads and revisited the suggestion to remove third party apps. I did finally connect with the built in IM client, but none of my buddies show up as being online (even though I know they are). Thus progress but quite there yet. Thanks for your help. -Stu |

Here's the process I followed: Go to options/Security Options/Firewall. - Enable or disable the firewall Save and Reset Settings - Pull your battery and re-insert Allow all the connections promted. Test the apps. If that doesn't work; Go back to options and reverse the Firewall to it's original settings. Go to Options/Advanced Options/TCP - Us this for the APN:wap.blackberry.net - Save the settings and pull the battery to reset allow all connections when prompted Test the apps. If that doesn't work; Go to Options/Advanced Options/TCP - Us this for the APN:wap.voicestream.com - Save the settings Go to options/Security Options/Firewall - Reset Settings - Pull the battery to reset allow all connections when prompted I don't know how or why, but that is what worked for me in getting things back to working. Let us know how it turns out. |

Whoo Hoo! I just got everything working. I tried some of the firewall settings you suggested and I also deleted Yak-On and reinstalled and rebooted. One of all of those did the trick. Thanks for the help and suggestions.

WTG Stubaker. Funny how sometimes you don't know what fixed it. But who cares, you're working again!
