    7100i Spinning Hour-glass of DOOM!

    Okay, one of our office staff is running a nextel BB7100i that refuses to boot. It's stuck on the white screenw ith the hourglass. The desktop manager doesn't register it as being connected, either. And as a bit of background on this phone, it had the JVM Error 102, which I fixed by running javaloader to wipe it and reload it. We haven't had that error since, but...

    I found a thread with the 13 step solution involving battery removal and the desktop software. I and another of my IT crew have tried it a total of 7 times, and it hasn't worked once. I tried running javaloader on it this morning to wipe it and restart again, but, while it *has* 'connected' to the device, it hasn't apparently done much else, and we're now going on three hours of letting the program run.

    Now, on to my question: Should it be taking this long at all for javaloader to wipe the phone, and if not, are there any other suggestions on what we can try?

    no it should not take more than a few minutes for javaloader to wipe it, but sorry I have no suggestions. Hopefully someone else will pop in here with advice shortly

    I had to hard reset a few days ago and it took a good 20 mins due to java issues as you're having. If it comes down to it, you may need to contact a store location and take it in and see what they can for a repair.

    I had the a similar problem last week, in the end I wiped everything- DM, BB connection manager, everything! then started from scratch. I lost a few bits of info, but started a new sync and got most of it back. It did take 25-30 minutes to re-boot my BB, but all is fine now.

    Don't know if this helps, but it did work of me.

    Thanks for the info, everyone. I am going to keep trying on this unit, so we have a spare on hand, but I was given an ultimatum by management. We've gone and ordered a new phone. But, again, thanks to all who chimed in.

    JVM 102 error could be the last breath before death for a BB.

    I know how to fix it....get the OS for it v4.2 and use the desktop manager to wipe it and reload it...I had that same problem and it worked for me
