7100i questions for the experts!

Hey guys-
I just got a 7100i that was laying around extra at work. I've been reading the forums and playing with the options. I have a few questions I was hoping you could help me with:
  1. How do I upgrade the software on the phone? I think it has 4.1 now.
  2. Will this particular BB play mp3's?
  3. Does it have speakerphone? If so, how do I access it?
  4. Can you have personalized ringers for different people?
  5. How do I setup message filters? I read the help file and followed the directions, but it didn't work.
Thanks in advance for any help!!
Dan

jester805, Welcome to PinStack.

5. Did you assign a name and short cut key to the filter and save it afterwards?

Rcbjr-
No, I can't figure out how to do anything at all with filters. I can't even create one from scratch. It seems like the option isn't even there.

Staceyrvc-
3. Doesn't that particular speaker button just mute the ringers?
4. Can you tell me how to access the personalized ringer option??? I can't find it anywhere.

Thanks a lot for all of the replies!

Open the Menu in the Message App.
Scroll to Search and Select.
fill in the fields you want to create filter for.
Save the Filter
Fill in title
Add Shortcut key if desired
Save again

Now all is good.
If you assigned a Shortcut key when you go into your list you can press ALT+key and activate the filter

Hope this helps

Actually, that doesn't help. That's just searching through the messages on the phone.

The filtering I'm talking about is something I read from the Messages Help menu. I go to Messages --> Help --> Email messages --> Create Filters. It says "In the messages option, click Email Filters. But I don't see that in the messages options.

Did you actually try what I suggested, or did you just blow me off, because you didn't see the option "Email Filters" and I said look for "Search". The process works exactly like what you want to do. I know because I have several filters set up using that procedure. If you try it and it still doesn't work, then come back and let me know, and I will try to help solve this problem.

Re: 7100i questions for the experts!

Make sure the date is not highlighted, scroll down to a message to be able to set a filter.

i did what you said and i saved the search but i don't know how to apply it as a filter. it seems all i did was save the search and now i can access it whenever i want to, but what i'm trying to do is make it so i don't see those emails

your thoughts??
