what are your experiences with the 8330 on verizon? Can people hear you or do they say you sound muffled?

I have the Alltel 8330 and the voice quality has been great thus far. No complaints here or from people on the other end.

I have the Verizon 8330 and it's fantastic quality. Never had one person complain, and it's crystal clear on my end.

The 8330 has better sound quality compared to all of my other Verizon based BBs.

You might have something stuck in the mic. I had that problem with my 8320 and with my 8100 when I was with Tmobile. Sometimes you get link or something jammed in there since its a tiny hole and its on the very bottom. Check that out!

If thats not that case maybe you got defective model. If you are within the 30 day or 14 day period you should be able to get a brand new one from the store you purchased it from.....

People say they have a hard time hearing me but i think it's because i have a really soft voice. Other then that, there is no cracking or distorted noises.

Is it possible to change the mic yourself?

I know this might sound nuts but make sure that you are NOT using the speaker phone.
My experience is that use of the speaker phone in noisy envirnments will get people saying that they can't hear you very well.

Built-in mikes in general do pick up background noise, third party voices and wind if using outside. When in noisy situations, I prefer using my Plantronics Bluetooth headset that does better filtering out background noises.
