Nope. That's a "feature" of the BlackBerry devices. They will not automatically change timezones as that would most likely mess up your calendar settings in the meantime.

That is correct, you will have to change it manually when you travel.

All you can do is manually change it. ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

I called RIM and they said the same thing the above people have said. The BB picks up the time from the cell phone towers but the towers don't have the ability to do the time zone switch for users.
thus . . . one has to change the time zone manually

Tmobile's 8700g would automatically change time when entering another time zone.. but unfortunately the 8830 doesn't.. I went from cali to ohio and it still had cali time.. lol

Do you have the time setting set to 'BlackBerry' or 'Network'? Check your options> data/time settings.

    Hopefully that will help.

No, that won't help. You have to manually set the time zone. If you didn't and you created a calendar event while in one time zone, and then created another event in a different time zone, when you went back to your home time zone, all of your event times would be incorrect.

Having to do the manual change prevents this from happening.

I'm in D/FW now on my way to Colorado. If I set my time zone to Mountain, book a meeting for next week (when I am in Ohio), will the time be off when I switch back to Eastern time?

This is one of my huge BlackBerry pet peeves. I dislike having to change the timezone when I travel.. especially during short layovers while waiting for connecting flights.

I'd like a setting -- automatically set time zone to network time, or not. Give us a choice, please!

That's a good idea! I wonder if there is a way to get that suggestion to the firmware gods?
