    Question Text/Media Messages

My 8830 shows "[1Unread]" when there are NO text messages at all. No read an no unread.

In the past I could fix this by performing a "Wipe Handheld" and "Restore."

However, when I did this this time it did not repair the problem.

    How can I fix this?

Try connecting it to ur desktop manager and once there I believe go to the back up n restore area and there should be an option to click on advanced on the far right
It will bring up a list of things and telling you how many there are such as messages, address book, browser cache and so forth.
Highlight sms, mms,or messages (forgot which one is the right one sry) and clear it out
See if that wrks if anyone else wnts to add to this in the meantime cuz I'm in bed half asleep
Ill add the exact step by step tommorrow mornin

Neither Verizon nor RIM tech support were ever able to solve this for my wife on her Pearl 8130 with OS 4.3 or my 8830 with OS 4.2. We both have OS 4.5 now and haven't had problem since.
But yeah, you can use Desktop Manager to clear from the device whichever database type (SMS, email, MMS, calls, etc.) is showing as a hung as new message.

Ensure that you do not have a message unread in your "Saved Messages" folder.

    Thumbs up

Thanks to all that responded. I tried the Advanced method given above but couldn't really tell which to delete to make the Text Message disappear.

But when I read the last post warning to check any "saved" messages, I took a look at that possibility.

I never save messages and wasn't even aware of a folder for the same. But when I investigated there were several messages, some from over a year ago, that were in there. And one that was marked "unread."

Once I deleted those, it fixed my problem.

    Thanks again.
