So a couple issues with 8830

I can't dial a * before numbers... even if I go through the 'add symbol' thing.

The vibrate option offsets the ringer and I end up missing calls.

I'd like to unlock the GSM portion, and have use one company but still can't switch out SIMS. Is it just because I am in the US?

And lastly I cannot access websites that require Javascript.

Oh...and how do I find out what my blackberry IM # ID is...

any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

    Thank You!!

    Karl

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~you must go to internet and click the blackberry key and select options from there click browser configuration and click the check box to allow javascript. As far as default vibrate I just swithc my ringer in options make sure whichever you choose says enabled. I am not familiar with # sign first in dialing but I will check it out for you

    1) GSM is only outside the U.S.

    2) To get Javascript working, when on a webpage in the Blackberry browser, click to get a menu, then select Options > Browser Configuration. Scroll down to Support Javascript and press the spacebar. This will work for some website and will hugely slow down your browser speed. I only use it when necessary.

Your PIN is under Options>Status. Look for PIN t the bottom of the list.

The GSM function (from my understanding) will not work at all on US frequencies. Normal US GSM phones broadcast and receive 4 different frequencies 850/900/1800/1900, whereas the 8830 will only operate on 900/1800 (European frequencies, 1900 is the US).

If you go to: http://na.blackberry.com/eng/devices/compare/ this is a great tool to see what different options are on different phones.

I've read so far that you cannot replace the SIM card... well you can, but it just won't work anywhere.

If you press the green "send" key and then try to type it, does it work? It does for me.

Also quick note -- if you're typing a SMS and you type "Mypin" without quotes and with a space after it will automatically generate your PIN into the text message...
