Question Replacement Keypad

Has anyone had any luck lately locating a retailer/dealer that has a black QWERTY keypad for the 8800/8830 series phones? I'm on Verizon's ugly Silver and got a nice scratch on my lens - so, I'm really hoping to swap the case and keypad for black...

CNN.CN has everything - but, a black QWERTY keypad for this phone! Anyone been able to fiind any lately?

    Thanks!

You wont be able to put a QWERTY keyboard on a 8830. The only thing you will be able to replace it with is a fully keyboard. For the QWERTY you will have to go to a pearl. Sorry.

Thanks for the reply...but, I'm not sure what you are referring to... I'm just talking about a replacement keypad - not a full keyboard. cnn.cn sells them as well as AZERTY keypads (french) but, that's not gonna do me much good.

I'll check out bbrepairshop...I may just have to bite the bullet.

He is trying to change the color of the keyboard, not the style of keyboards. Some of the companies have them in different colors. so if he can find one in a color he like it is workable

My BLACK 8830 keyboard arrived just today - I did have to go to the Post Office to sign for it. Looks like the original silver but in BLACK and QWERTY. Now, when will I get up the guts to tackle its installation. I did purchase from cnn.

No kidding?? When did you order it? I've been checking their website for a while and haven't seen it. Maybe it's time to email them again!

You just gave me a glimmer of hope that I may not have to spend $40 for a replacement keypad from bbrepairshops!! Thanks!

Date Ordered: Thursday 20 March, 2008

Shipped on the 24th (and actually, arrived yesterday but I was not home to sign for it)

I did jump on it when I read they were available again.

This stinks... Looks like I may have to pay the big-bucks from bbrepairshop...I just got the following reply from CNN.CN:

"We got less than a 100 in a few weeks ago but they quickly sold out even though we sold it for 9.99 for just the keyboard. To our knowledge, that was the last batch ever and they will not be producing the keyboard in black again."

It's good to know! Does anyone knows if they also carry the silver end key? Mine is almost completely red, everything on my BlackBerry 8830/WE looks good except for the few scratches the the case due to having to do a Hard re-boot almost five times a day.

eBay has a lot of the 8330 parts VERY cheap. I got a replacement PCB (the board with the mic, registers the keyboard presses, and the scroll wheel for $13 including shipping. Sure it came from Hong Kong, it was held up in customs for four days and then took almost a week to get here, but it was better than paying what the other places wanted. Works PERFECTLY.
