Ghost Message - SMS
I've searched the forum for previous posts and nothing seems to work short of pulling the battery. Getting tired of pulling the battery so mkany times.
Every once in a while a SMS that I've read and deleted shows up on my today theme under the messages header as if I have still to read it. When I highlight "messages" menu it's empty but can click on the SMS on the today theme screen.
I have a 8830 on the Telus network. Running 126.96.36.199 (Platform 188.8.131.52)
Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated

so wat i did waz e-mail inbox-option-Display message count-from Unread to NONE n there waz no icon no more..BUT whn i get 2 messages it only shows new message icon n not mentioning how many message i get ..but atleast i get ride of tht 1 new message icon
hope this helps n sorry for ma english
Thanks fot the tip. I tried it and still there. This is driving me nuts.
It's a text message right? Is the WHOLE thing coming through, or when you opened it the first time did it say ---More Text---
If you deleted it while it said ---more text--- then it may be trying to pull in the rest of the text, but since the "original" isn't there, you are SOL....
Just thinking, but that might not be it.
You can always try to send yourself a text and see if that kicks the glich.
Color---it's nothing but a hue of the rainbow...why do people place such importance in it?
First off thanks to everyone helping....
The last ghost test was a one word text so wasn't that.
I did send myself a text and it came through. Once I erased it the old one pops back up.
there waz a thread about this like connect ur bb using DM n advance n click on sms messages , browser messages etc and clear something like this but it used to delete all of ur sms messages.
but cant find thet thread rite now
Been searching everywhere on the board...nothing yet
I had a similar problem, but with my VM.
I had my SMS & E-mail inboxes set to "separate". Then I changed it back to "combined" (separated by lines).
I was then able to see the VM/icon and delete it--even though I had already deleted the vm previously.
I dunno, but it's worth a shot....let me know how it goes!
Best of luck!

If you have a message that wont delete no matter what you do try this.
Plug BB into pc
Open Desktop Manager
Click Backup and Restore
Click the Advanced Tab
On the right hand side you will see Device Databases, find Browser Messages, Messages, MMS Messages, PIN Messages, Saved Email Messages and SMS Messages. Hold the control key on your keyboard and left click each one of these that you want to be cleared. The press clear and then press yes to continue.
hope tht helps but carefull it deletes ur sms
If you have gone through everything above and nothing has worked it would seem it is time to clear the sms data base off the phone. You will lose all messages but it will take care of the issue for you. Hook up the phone to the pc and open DM. Go into back up and restore, ( if you want to play it safe make a quick back up prior to this) and select advanced. On the right side it will list the databases on the device. Scroll to sms messages and click on it. once highlighted on the bottom right hand side it should have the option to clear. Do the same thing (if needed) to the messages database and mms database. This will clear the database and start fresh again. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the info...however tired exactly want you said. Nothing showed up on the database, but cleared it anyways. Same SMS still showing..agh!
What do you mean nothing showed up in the database? Did it say it had no entries? Were you looking at the right side or the left? did you clear the other messaging databases as well?

Restore all databases that you want except for any of the messaging databases (sms, mms, messaging etc.)
- Connect the BlackBerry device to your computer.
- Open the BlackBerry® Desktop Manager.
- Click Backup and Restore.
- Click Advanced.
- On the File menu, click Open.
- Double-click the backup (.ipd) file.
- In the Desktop File Databases section, select the database(s) to restore.
- Click the right arrow button.
- Click Yes.
I get the same thing sometimes I usually go to the top and click on "mark prior opened" and that usually takes care of it ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~
