    emails deleting!!

    Hello,

I got my bb8830 recently and can't seem to keep emails. If I open an email, it will delete from my inbox within an hour or so. However, I can save it but do I have to save each email every time?

    My sent emails will stay.

I have also noticed that I do not receive all emails.

This is my 2nd phone b/c verizon couldn't figure it out and said I had a bad phone. I find it hard to believe that I received 2 bad phones in a row!

    Can you please help?

    Thanks is advance!
    Max

    max, welcome to pinstack!
have you upgraded your device OS since you bought the BB?
it might be a good idea. what OS do you have running right now? go to options/about; third line down.

also check out this thread. most likely your messages are deleting bc you are low on memory. a battery pull will normally clear this up, but the above thread will also give you some other tips to keep this from happening in the future.

Sounds like your memory might be low....check OPTIONS- ABOUT - File Free=?

Have you loaded themes, 3rd party applications, etc into your device memory?

There is a thread linked in my blog that gives tips on freeing up memory.

thanks for the info so far.

I am running whatever came with the phone. I am new to BB and really haven't used it to its full potential yet.

    OS- v4.2.2.196 (platform 3.0.0.84)

I just deleted my text messages so maybe that will help.

    file free- 18247196 bytes

If I dont get this fixed in 2 weeks I have to exchange it for another device. Any advice? Motorola Q, Palm Treo?

    thanks again!

    Hey Max,

    Welcome to PinStack!

18mb is pretty good. It's a good idea to follow Cherri's and Gary's advice, however and do some other things to keep your memory at or above where you currently have it. Check out the links they've mentioned and that should keep you clean.

You don't want to be exchanging this device for any of the ones you mentioned above, trust me! You've got the best of the best and you won't regret keeping it!

You just need to stick around here and glean as much information as you can. You'll learn something new every day.

You might also want to check out this thread so you have a good idea of where to start and how to maximize your PinStack experience:

    Hope this helps!

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~cherri and garys advice is the best thing for you. Another device is just going three steps backwards and I wouldn't dream of it myself (that's a nightmare no BB) be patient and try to fix your investment.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ hi Max wecome to the stacks. Sorry your having trouble with the phone.

What email host are you using? Hotmail, Yahoo etc.

POP email accounts should not delete them off your PC/Internet login (like if you delete on BB it won't effect it when you get on your computer). Unlike IMAP, (ie .Mac, or mobile me) whatever you do that account affects all devices that login to that account. (Delete email on bb, deletes it on the server so when you login via computer it shows it was deleted)

But let us know what email account you have so we can start there
