    Re: Does the Sprint 8830 have the memory leak problem

    I just got my 8830 through Alltel five days ago. Yesterday I started having issues where my call logs would delete itself. I could get a call and within seconds, the log would be gone. In addition, all of my SMS text logs were gone and I could not receive any SMS messages. I called Alltel and she stated that it sounded like a memory leak. She said I was her first call with a 8830. She stated she had a lot with the pearl but none with the 8830. I did the battery pull and so far so good.

    What concerns me the most is that I seem to have read a lot where people seem to be doing a lot of maintenance with their 8830. Clear cache, pull battery, etc. I had my 8700 and never had to do this. Is the 8830 just that much more temper mental?

    Re: Does the Sprint 8830 have the memory leak problem

    Here's a related RIM article on the app switcher memory leak fyi. According to this, RIM hasn't figured out a fix yet, so the carriers won't have it either. It's not the only cause for low memory conditions, so it may not apply to your case.
    Palm Pilot-->Handspring Visor-->Treo 300-->Treo 600-->Treo 650-->Treo 700p+E62-->Treo700p+Curve (8300)-->Curve (8330)-->Tour (9630)

    This issue is caused by a RIM software error. Be sure that you are storing any pictures, videos or large files to the micro SD card. A battery pull will serve as a temporary fix. This issue affects all blackberry pearls, so loading the Verizon software will not resolve the issue and may only serve to cause other gliches as it is not optimized to sprints network.
