Bluetooth on my 8830 has random disconnects on my Garmin c550

Has anyone had trouble maintaining a bluetooth connection with their GPS unit such as a Garmin or Tom Tom? My BB8830 always connects with the bluetooth of my Garmin right away but then something odd happens. Sometimes it stays connected for an hour or more and sometimes it will disconnect after one minute. Once it disconnects, I can reconnect them, but it will drop out within a minute again. Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

I'm guessing it drops when you are inside. GPS works best when you are outside with a clear view of the skies.

Thanks for the reply bartokbatt. I should have been more clear. The Garmin is in my vehicle at all times. The connecting and disconnecting is happening while I am in the vehicle.

Iam having the same issue with my nuvi 680. I even returned the gps for another because I thought the unit was defective but the replacement does the same thing. I am at a loss as to what to try.~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

Add me to the list of frustrated Blackberry/ Garmin users who become randomly disconnected from the bluetooth connection. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

You will all be happy to know that I have the solution. I contacted Garmin because I had the same problem with my Nuvi 760 and my BB 8320.

Download (remove spaces from url, I hope this doesn't make moderators mad, but figured it would help people out): img . imwinc . net / downloads / 006B055301 . GCD and then read the email conversation below:

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Garmin International. I will be more than happy to help you with this. If you have a unit where the Bluetooth is disabled and when you attempt to enable it gets stuck on the “Enabling Bluetooth” message please use the attached file. The problem is the Bluetooth firmware on the device is corrupted. When you receive this file you will want to save it to the computer, drag and drop it into the RemoteSW folder which is under the Garmin folder on the unit which can be found once you connect the unit to the computer and go into mass storage. You will then allow the unit to reboot itself when they disconnect it from the computer. This should allow the Updating Bluetooth Firmware sequence to come up allowing you to enable the Bluetooth once it is finished.

Re: Bluetooth on my 8830 has random disconnects on my Garmin c550

This is a known issue in regards to Garmin Nuvis running Bluetooth v3.0 and BBs. Don't despair, there is a solution! You must downgrade your Nuvi Bluetooth version all the way back to version 2.4. I struggled with this problem for weeks until I found a solution, and everyone I've spoken to who has downgraded to 2.4 has has the dropped connection stop.
