I Just tried to load Yahoo on my Sprint 8830 with same problem. I tried it on my wife's 8830 and it loaded fine. Any ideas anyone?
I suggest you re-install it. Happened to me once. Now it works perfectlyOriginally Posted by ElCamino

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~i have reinstalled several times and rebooting with no luck.
I think it may have something to do with Yahoo not recognizing the 8830 yet. I noticed that on the Yahoo!Go you can't actually download the application because they don't have the 8830 as a "supported device".
Think that might be it?
(Oddly enough they have the 8800 and the 8300)

I just downloaded it directly onto my 8830 (Verizon)(Bell Mobility OS) and it worked fine. I did not load it via desktop. Just through the BB Browser www.blackberry.com/yahoodownload
Could it be that your server isn't set up to allow Yahoo Messenger?
Those links don't work ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~
I found out what the problem was; there was no service book for yahoo in my 8830. So what I did was;
1. Went to a old backup I had from my 8703 and choose to restore but you must cancel the restore process right away.
2. Then choose advance button.
3. Once it opens that backup you will see on the left side of the box everything you had on your backup which I went down to service books, highlight it and then have it replace your current Service Books.
4. Then you close DM and unplug your 8830
5. Go to option on 8830 > Advance Options>Host Routing Table> then menu key and click on Refister Now. You will also need to log into your web BIS to resend your email Service Books and after that you will have the Yahoo service books and working.
Beautiful, worked like a charm, thanks! Also I recommend after restoring the old service books, go into options..advanced...service books and delete the other backups except the yahoo one leaving it as the only one, then register on Host Routing Table and BIS service book resend. That way all is clean.
I really need help. I just got my blackberry last week and I dont know what to do with the yahoo messenger. I have tried to install it and I have done what ElCamino said but the only problem is that this is my 1st blackberry and I dont know what a BIS service book is. Could somebody PLEASE help me out and tell me what to do?
I have the exact same issue where I install Y! Msgr and when I try to load the app I get an error telling me to go to BB to activate my device for Y! Msgr. Like Noble07, this is my first blackberry as well (Sprint 8830) -- so I do not have an old BB to pull yahoo service books from. Any suggestions on how to obtain for newbie BB owners?
