    8830 Voice Mail

How can I program it on my phone to access voice mail and have my password be automated so I don't have to enter it each time, from the 8830 only.

Go to Phone - Options - Voicemail... You will see the phone number and below you'll see password, yours is blank right now. Type your 4 digit voicemail PIN in there and next time you dial voicemail, your phone will dial the number, pause for 3 seconds, then automatically enter your PIN. Be advised that anyone that gets ahold of your phone will have access to your voicemail, and if they know where to look, your voicemail PIN. So I'd suggest you enable security. Hope this helps.

Yes in that same area where you entered your voice mail pin #. Scroll down to the pin# field and hit options button. You will see where it says add pause.

Ahh! I figured you did that in the smart dialing section but since I hadn't tried it, I wasn't going to say anything about it... LOL. Anyway, thanks for that info, cfrench.

First, contact Verizon and make sure that the number programmed as your Voice Mail number is correct. When you're in the Phone App, click the Menu button and select Options --> Voice Mail to see what number it is.

I say this because with AT&T, the number came pre-programmed, and when it's dialed from the phone, it connects automatically. If I try to get to my voice mail from any other phone, I have to enter my password.

If Verizon doesn't have that setup, you'll have to add an entry to your Address Book with your Voice Mail number, and follow it by at least one pause (by entering a comma) and then your password. If the pause isn't long enough (each comma is about 2 seconds), keep adding commas until it's long enough. When you enter a comma, it should appear as an inverse P in the phone number. If you need to enter something to "end" the password like #, don't forget to put that in too. The number should look like this:
    +1 (800) 123-4567PP9999#

    Good luck.

On Verizon your voicemail number is just your own cell phone number. I'd try adding another pause or two and make sure it's connecting before it enters the PIN.
Another question, are you hearing it enter the PIN after the pause?
