    8830 sync with Outlook 2003

I am a new user of the bb8830; formally used the treo650. I have MSN premium and Outlook 2003. I cannot get my Desktop Manager to sync the bb calendar with Outlook although it is an option; I think it may have something to do with the Outlook Connector software. Does anyone else have this problem and, if so, does anyone have a work around.
    Thanks,
    LarryF

Have you gone into the options of the DM and told it to sync instead of doing a one-way sync?

    Check here....
In Desktop Manager with your BB connected select Syncronize. Then the Configuration Tab will give you the Configure Sync option. Here is where you will tell it what software you want to sync with, how , and where.

Re: 8830 sync with Outlook 2003

Thanks for the advice. I have tried what you both have suggested. However, whatever I try I always get the following message:
"The file or database name associated with Microsoft Outlook is missing, invalid, or points to a file of zero length."
I am guessing that this is happening because I use MSN premium instead of the free MSN internet program and because MSN premium requires Outlook connector which, by the way, internally syncs my calendar between MSN premium and Outlook 2003.
This is quite frustrating and VZN tech support could not give me an answer other than to say that they passed it along to RIM.

Not sure I understand how your internet ISP would affect your Outlook sync? Is outlook installed on your desktop? Check your settings in Desktop Manager to make sure your Outlook data files are properly mapped:

I tried to find the folder that you supplied above, but could not. I also looked at my address book in the Desktop Manager and found that it was linked to Outlook Express, not Outlook. I don't know whether this makes a difference. The sad fact is that, for whatever reason, the Desktop manager does not recognize my Outlook file.

    Try this...
    Desktop Manager
    Sync
    Configuration Tab
    Configure Synch
(all of these should indicate "MICROSOFT OUTLOOK")
Advanced Button-- will give you the screen I posted where you can map your data folders if needed.

Re: 8830 sync with Outlook 2003

Thanks again for trying to help me. I don't have the screen that you have posted. I think that is because I am with Verizon and my DM is 4.2.2.12 (the latest). I was told that version 4.3 is only for the Pearl; it is not yet supported on the 8830.
I am now in touch with a Verizon Tech who is also mystified as to why the sync won't work.
If I get a solution I will post it.

Re: 8830 sync with Outlook 2003

Finally got an answer from the VZW tech. Unfortunately, by using MSN premium I am also using a program called Outlook connector and this program is not compatible with the Desktop sync program. RIM is aware of this issue and I am further told that the upcoming DM 4.3 release for my 8830 may (or more probably may not) fix this issue. I am probably going to have to wait until RIM and Microsoft resolve it.
Thanks again for all your time. Hopefully, this will be the only bb issue that I can't resolve.
