    8830 Soft Reset

I read that one is supposed to be able to do a soft reset by pushing alt+cap+del rather than pulling the battery, is this true, it seems to NOT work on my 8830.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~i haven't been able to do that on my 8830. I just continue to do battery pulls instead

Use the ALT key on the left, and the SHIFT and DEL on the right. Hold all three of them down for a few seconds and it should work.

Ditto... tavela81. Very similar as CTRL+ALT+DEL on Windows. Press and hold one, while holding it hold down the second and then hit the third.

    Re: 8830 Soft Reset

I couldn't ever get it to work on my dads 8830 on old os but could on mine. Now we both have new os and it works. Iam not saying that it doesn't work but maybe doesn't always work when it should, if this makes any sense or maybe I have just not had enough sleep to make it it make sense or maybe I am just cracked out.
LOL. I really need some sleep!

Thanks a lot! A lot better to regain memory than pulling that battery every time!

Try this SW - SoftReset - better than having to pull your battery each and every time:

    http://www.geekandproud.net/blackberry-software/

There is an OTA install option available.

Press the left Alt then the right Shift then the Delete in that order but don't let go of any of the buttons.
And the SoftReset does work on an 8830.

I have used both methods Battery Pull/Soft Reset App and Left ALT then Right Shift then Delete. What I have noticed though was that when I did the latter my memory did not increase as opposed to doing a battery pull or using the Soft Reset app. There was no white screen with hour glass when using the Alt-Rshift-Delete which was a lot quicker to boot up also. Am I missing something??
