    8830 port blocking of iChat

I will be retiring and use my cell a lot. Biggest use of internet is for iChat. Was considering using a Sprint 8830 for tethered access for my MBP. Was told that Sprint is port blocking to stop Skype, Yahoo, and iChat connections. Can someone verify this for me please.

If verified, I will have to get a data card instead of the phone.

    Thanks

Hello and welcome to pinstack. I have an 8830 and can help you test this if you want.

If you use JiveTalk, you can access Yahoo chat, iChat, and GoogleTalk directly from your BB, no tethering required. I use it on my 8800, but it's on ATT, not Sprint. Shouldn't be any issues on Sprint according to their website.
