I have my new 8830 and so far so good... The backlight does not appear to go to 100% brightness with activity. How do I make it do this? My 7130 would go to maximum brightness on activity, then dim, then go out completely with inactivity.

I think you can turn on and off the "Auto backlight". I believe that the newer BBs have "light sensing" technology and that's where this auto backlight kicks in. If you're in a darker room, then a darker backlight, bright sun means bright screen. Hope that helps.

You can also press the power button on the top to adjust the brightness. Press it once and it goes to full brightness. Press it again and it goes off. Press it once again and it goes back to "normal" light-sensing brightness. Once the light shuts off it reverts to the normal light-sensing brightness when you bring it back on.
