    Hi,

Just got my new sprint 8830 and let me say im sold on the blackberry.

I did run into one problem though when I tether my phone it only allows 1xr even though the phone shows 1xev.

Any ideas on why i have evdo on the phone but when used as a modem i only get 1x.

I am using the standard sprint connection manager.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

My boss did the modem set up on his 8830 right after he got it and found that there was an addl set up (and subscription fee as with GPS activation thru Verizon) required to get that feature.

Is your phone roaming? (small triangle?) In my area, all of Sprint's roaming partners (i.e., Verizon) only allow 1xRTT. But, from your description, this is probably not what is happening.

You should give Sprint a call. Phone-as-Modem is included with all the old (i.e., not 8130) plans.
