    8703e or 8830

Alrighty guys, Ive had an 8703e for about 2 weeks now. And allbeit it has all the functionality I expect from a crackberry, Im still pondering the idea of the 8830. Music, movies, and extra storage are the up sides to the trade. But what I was wondering is, have they updated the OS to make the tunneling calls, and service problems better?
Or should I just stick with what I have? You know how it is with technology, sometimes more isnt better. And one lesson ive learned with working with converged devices, is the more stuff they cram into these phones, the more problems they tend to have...
So, if you guys have any opinion, please leave it. Even if its "Just keep the D@MN thing!"

    Hey Jason,

I'm all about getting the latest technology as soon as it comes out and I usually do. I am with Alltel and they just released the 8830 and I currently have the 8703e and I think I'm going to stick with it for awhile. Like you said, the music, movies, and extra storage are the upsides so if that is a big concern, upgrading would be beneficial. I use my BB mainly for emails, messaging, and phone calls and have little concern for the music or movie side of it. The 8830 isn't a big upgrade, you don't get a camera or Wi-Fi so if you can get the 8830 for free (via your company or something) then upgrade away but if you have to pay for it, I would wait, IMHO.

Good luck with your decision and hope you enjoy whichever BB you go with.

I've had the same debate with myself. I'm currently using an 8703e and have debated the upgrade to an 8830 (Sprint.) While the media WOULD be a nice novelty, it's not really all that needed as I'm also hooked on my Video iPod. Plus, for me it will be full price. I haven't carried my 8703e long enough to be eligible for an upgrade rebate. However, seeing that you've only had it two weeks... does Verizon give you 30 days (Sprint does this) to return the device for another or refund? If you're within that window, I would DEFINITELY swap it out for the 8830 as it shouldn't cost you much if anything more (I'm not sure what price you got the 8703e for.) Good luck.

Thats what I was kinda planning on. I had to do a clean wipe this morning, when I was loading a theme.. and if im gonna have some of that, I want there to be music involved.

Wow, the 8830 really does bring out the language in a person.

Sorry for the dirty language. Ive just never had a true "Smart" phone before. Other than my ol' BB's its been PPC phones. Never seen one with this kinda capability. What was I thinking? I should have gotten this thing months ago.

Oh dont worry about having a potty mouth, the BB really does have a strange effect on its users. Did you get a memory card, Ive got tons of songs and videos on mine.

Yeah, I got a 2gig one. Im thinking im gonna look into the 4gig tho. Saw somewhere on here, that there's one that works. Im kinda spoiled, the samsung i730 I was using, earlier this year, had a 4gig in it. And it took forever to find one that worked.
    So, got any suggestions?

    ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~
The 4gig is definately worth it. Verizon sells one--so I guess that makes it officially supported.
